Revisiting My 2018 Travel Bucket List with Webjet + 3 Tips on How To Plan Your Own Getaway

Happy Wednesday!

Now, that the New Year has finally made her appearance, it’s time revisit my 2018 Travel Bucket List that I put into place in December. Furthermore, it’s time to research deals, propose ideal dates, and put a plan into place as to how I will reach each destination on my Travel Bucket List, all while keeping it manageable and affordable.

Can this be done? Of course, it can!

After giving the list a considerable amount of thought,  I have finally devised a plan for each destination that will ensure enough time for enjoyment, as well as keep the stress of planning to a minimum.

My hope for this post is that you will snag a few great ideas and tips as to how to plan some of your own travel getaways this year!

Cheers to 2018!

My 2018 Travel Bucket List Plan of Attack

Seven Magic Mountains – Las Vegas, Nevada

While out in Las Vegas last year with the boys, there were so many places to see and so many things to do, that of course, we did not make it to everything we wanted. One of the places that we did not get to experience was the Seven Magic Mountains.

So, instead of planning a completely separate trip to Las Vegas just to experience the Seven Magic Mountains, I have paired this attraction with an employee training that will be held in Las Vegas in April. Each year for work, we are allowed to travel out of state once for professional development. Most often the trainings last two and a half days which always leaves a half a day to spend however you want. So, with my half a day available, I have decided to use it to explore the Seven Magic Mountains. Genius!

Tip #1 – If you are fortunate enough to experience company travel, use your down time to explore. Please, for the life of me, do not sit in your hotel room.

Kentucky Bourbon Trail and The Heidelberg Project

Out of the 16 states that we visited last year, every single one of them were road trips, with the exception of us flying to Las Vegas where I then rented a car and road-tripped through the Southwest.

From my travel experiences last year, I can tell you that you can experience a lot with a reliable vehicle, $100, and a weekend. Trust me!

Therefore, I have decided that I will tackle the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and the Heidelberg Project as affordable, weekend road trips.

With each attraction being less than four hours away, they can be completed as day trips on a long summer day or experienced as an overnight weekend trip. Tours along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail are usually $10 per person and there is no cost to explore the Heidelberg Project. So, the main expenses are food, fuel, and lodging.

Tip #2 – To save money on lodging while road tripping, rent a cabin on a trusted campground such as a KOA or Jellystone Campground. For approximately $50 you can score a clean efficiency cabin with a TV. Just remember to bring your own linens.

International Travel to the French Polynesia and Paris, France

Finally, for my international getaways, I have decided to use exclusive deals through Webjet. Webjet is an online travel agency that enables customers to compare, combine and book the best domestic and international flight deals, accommodation, packages, cruises, travel insurance, and car hire worldwide.

Since, traveling internationally is new to me, I am depending on Webjet travel packages to handle most of my travel needs – which brings me to my final tip.

Tip #3 – If traveling is new to you, especially international travel, purchase a travel package through a travel agency like Webjet that includes travel, transfers, lodging, and food, if possible.

Currently, there are several deals available on Webjet, including a Paris and Seine Normandy River Cruise package with flights which will take care of my Paris trip! They also offer cheap holiday packages that I may be able to use towards the end of the year during the holidays for my French Polynesia getaway.

Well, there you have it! My plan of attack for my 2018 Travel Bucket List along with 3 tips on how to plan your own getaway and keep them affordable and manageable.
