#TravelTuesday – Dollar Tree Finds for Cypress Point Beach in Tampa, Florida

Cypress Beach

Happy Tuesday!

Out there in social media land, today is actually #TravelTuesday, so I thought today was the perfect day to share some of our extended weekend travel.

I actually drove a whopping 2,200 miles round trip to tackle both, Georgia and Florida (from here in Illinois)!

Whew!

That is not a ride I want to take solo again. But, I am glad that I did. It gave me a lot of time to think and make some sound life decisions.

Louisville South KOA

Anyway, we left Illinois Thursday evening and I drove to Shepherdsville, Kentucky which is about 20 miles outside of Louisville. We stayed at the Louisville South KOA overnight, grilled some food, and the boys played on the playground with a ton of other children. Once we turned in for the night, we went straight to sleep because there were no TVs in these cabins.

My youngest was a little upset because, in all of the other cabins we have stayed in, there has always been a TV. Not having one however, made him use his imagination a bit more.

Not having a TV wasn’t a big deal, overall. What was a big deal, however, was be grateful to remember to bring our mini space heater. Cabins can get pretty chilly at night, especially in the spring.

Earlier this year, we stayed at the Historic Route 66 KOA in Eureka, Missouri and boy was it cold overnight!

This time I was prepared!

World of Coca-Cola and Dinosaur World

After a decent night of sleep, Friday morning we headed off to the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, Georgia. From there, I drove until nightfall and stopped in Ashburn, Georgia where we grabbed a room and called it a night.

Saturday morning, we got ourselves together and drove to Plant City, Florida where we met a dear friend for lunch, visited Dinosaur World, and spent some time at Cypress Point Beach in downtown Tampa, Florida. Whew!

While it was a lot of driving, it was totally worth it.

We were so happy to make it to the beach and have some fun with all of the amazing Dollar Tree summer goodies that we found a few days prior to leaving on our trip. Fun doesn’t have to be expensive, so I hope this quick list gives you some ideas on what to pick up to have an awesome time at the beach.

Some of the fun summer things I picked up included the following:

  • Green Plastic Tote Basket – to carry everything.
  • Batteries for Mr. Bubble Whale
  • Mr. Bubble Whale
  • Water Squirters
  • Crayola Fushia Bubbles
  • Kites
  • Glow Sticks
  • Table Cloth  – For us to use on the sand to sit on.

We were able to fly the kites, blow bubbles, and also use the water squirters which were all from Dollar Tree. The boys really loved those! Unfortunately, we weren’t able to use Mr. Bubble Whale because it required a small screwdriver to open the batter pack. Next time we’ll be ready, but it was still fun to have him there.

Finally, after about two hours on the beach, I decided it was time to pack up the fun and start our journey back towards Illinois.
