On a mission…

Alright, I’m on a mission putting together a portfolio, which happens to ask for my personal mission statement. Thankfully, I am not caught off guard because I actually have one. It’s a little dated, as in 2009 dated; but you know what? It still rings true today. Nothing has changed. I want the same today and in the future, as I did in 2009.

When I think back to when I wrote it, I remember it taking me days to think about it and work through the process. As easy as it may sound to do, I just don’t recall my experience in creating mine, easy. I mean, I really had to give it some thought, look deep within, and be honest with myself. Once the document was completed, I made several copies, put one in a frame, and saved it. Thank goodness I did, because there have been a few occasions where I have been asked to have one for a particular project.

So, here is my question (or two) for you. If you were asked to include your personal mission statement in a portfolio or project, would you be able to do it? Or, is it something you would be caught off guard with and struggling trying to figure out how to produce?

If you already have one; that’s great! HIGH FIVE! Don’t forget to revisit it from time to time to make sure your daily actions are matching up with your very own personal mission. However, if you do NOT have one and would like to get started on yours, I would suggest reading Jack Canfield’s book called, The Success Principles. Each year, I read his book and work through the assignments with a notebook. I am always happy with my progress from the previous year. In his book, he breaks down goal setting, personal mission statements, etc. He takes you step by step so that you can actually feel good about composing your own mission statement and not be so overwhelmed with the process. I will caution you though; the book is big! Have no fear! LOL You can do it!

Everyone’s mission statement will of course be a little different. And, that’s okay. You can check out mine below or hit a quick Google search on “Personal Mission Statements” and see what you come up with.

Cheers to those on a mission!
