Alright. Back in 2017, a new IKEA sprouted in Fishers, Indiana. This was definitely something I was looking forward to because we are smack in the middle of Illinois and driving to IKEA in Schaumburg and Bolingbrook take at least (3) hours.
Who in the world wants to drive (3) hours, walk the length of several football fields, eat delicious, comforting food, get tired, and then drive (3) hours back home?
Not me. But, we’ve done it – and, now we don’t have to do it anymore.
But, What’s IKEA?
In a nutshell, IKEA is a Swedish-founded company that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture, kitchen appliances, and home accessories at a very affordable price.
IKEA’s New Location
IKEA’s new location is located at just south of the East 116th Street exit on Interstate 69, and it’s 296,000 square feet, which is about the size of five football fields. Whoa!
IKEA can definitely be overwhelming, especially if you are new. But, for us, it’s no big deal because we’ve been multiple times to multiple locations including ones in the suburbs of Chicago and in Orlando, FL.
Out of the ones that we have been to, I feel like this one was the smallest. This was my very first thought when we pulled into the parking lot. Nevertheless, I was still excited to browse the Showroom for inspiration, shop in the Marketplace, and eat in the Restaurant.
Look at these pink piggy banks! Awwwww.
The Showroom
Once we entered into IKEA, we made a pit stop to the restrooms and then headed straight into The Showroom, where we browsed for inspiration for our own home. We spent a considerable amount of time walking through various showroom set-ups before we stopped to eat.
IKEA Restaurant
Their food is so good and so affordable. I love that the kids meals are less than $5! On our last visit, they were $1.99, so all three of us ate for less than $10!! Talk about a great deal!
On this visit however, I spent about $20 for just my son and I because we wanted to try a host of new things like desserts and different entrees. In the past, I enjoyed their chicken meatballs. Do you know that they now have veggie meatballs?! Yummmm.
The Marketplace
After finished our meal, we headed into The Marketplace. The Marketplace is one of my favorite parts of IKEA because you can load up on all off the smaller things you plan to purchase like rugs, pillows, and this milk frother I picked up for my Keto Coffee. Do you know this milk frother was less than $3! It’s hard to find them at this price anywhere! So, this was definitely a win!
Aside from some smaller purchases, I did find the bookshelf that I have been eyeing for quite some time. And, what do you know? It was on sale for $35 from $49 with your IKEA Family card. I’m so glad I signed up years ago! Whoohoo!
What another win! I saved $14 for just being a member.
Final Thoughts
After about (2) hours of being in the store, we headed home. Check out video clips one and two to get a better peek into our visit – from hitting the highway, the yummy food that we ate – all the way to finally finding the bookcase I was looking for! Yayy!
