Five Easy Ways for Busy Moms to Help Causes They Care About

The transition from working professional to working mom is one that most are just not prepared for. A lot of people give full-time mothers a lot of hardship for not also trying to manage a job, but the fact is, parenthood is hard.

Whether you work or not, there isn’t a break in-between, which means that a lot of your previous interests need to take a back seat until your children are older.

This shouldn’t be the case, especially when it comes to causes that you are passionate about. Though you may not have the time to be as engaged in charitable organizations as you used to be, you can still help the causes you care about.

You can even combine parenthood with volunteering, and help your children to grow up to be emotionally intelligent, compassionate beings.

1) Set Up a Monthly Donation

If you are a working mom, a full-time parent, or simply have a lot on your plate, then don’t worry if you can’t also find time to volunteer. A good way to continue to support the causes that you care about, especially as a new mom, is to instead set up a monthly donation to the causes you want to help. You’ll be able to aid health and natural disaster organizations continue to carry out the good work they do, for example.

For new moms who are struggling to get a handle on all of their new responsibilities, donating is a very powerful way to help promote good in the world.

2) Volunteer with Your Kids

You don’t need to drag your kids along to volunteer organizations or events, especially considering there are plenty of kid-friendly organizations that pride themselves on their charitable organizations. Girl Scouts, the Scouts, and many more are great ways for your kids to learn some great skills, make friends, and of course, get involved with volunteering. If you can, join them on these volunteering expeditions and you can bond together working towards a great cause.

3) Help Your Community in Your Daily Activities

If you go on walks with your dog you can bring a trash picker with you and help clean up your local parks. Just a little bit will go a long way if you do it on a regular basis.

4) Go to Your Local Neighborhood Committee Board

Some neighborhoods have committee boards. If yours does, then get in touch and bring up an issue that you have seen in your community, and see if they would be happy to start organizing a volunteer service to address this. Perhaps you want to help the parks become “greener”—this could be a great initiative for the committee to invest in to improve the overall quality of your community.

5) Be On the Board

Similarly, you could work to be on the board. Parent boards are very popular in communities, and they have a huge sway in what the schools do in their local communities. You can directly help your child’s education just by giving your two cents.

There are so many ways for those who love charity work and volunteering to get involved. Find the way that works best for you, and know you are already going above and beyond for your home and your community.
