After receiving a handful of Instagram messages from some dedicated followers, it felt appropriate to take some time out to create a post dedicated to those questions regarding lifestyle blogging and how influencer marketing works on Just Brennon Blog.
Influencer Marketing
For starters, what is influencer marketing? In short, influencer marketing is basically marketing done by influencers (people and organizations) across the internet involving endorsements. For quite some time, influencers were only legit influencers if they had a certain number of followers. But what came out of that is the following question.
“What if an influencer is purchasing followers and the audience is not really engaged?”
So, companies began to classify influencers, such as top influencers, micro-influencers, and nano influencers – which allowed for working more with influencers who had less of a reach in terms of followers, but had more engagement and quality content to offer – which is how Just Brennon Blog.
Just Brennon Blog
Just Brennon Blog is a fun lifestyle blog created to inspire people to be happy and live their best lives possible. Prior to the new WordPress theme, the tagline and logo included the following quote.
“The happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything.”
Just Brennon Blog started on its own domain in 2014. It was an outlet to share stories, especially travel stories, and also provide tips and reviews to readers to help them on their life journey, as well.
It wasn’t until 2017, that the decision was made to do more with the blog – which began the journey of collaborating to become an influencer. The top three ways collaborations occur with companies include Sponsored Product and Brand Reviews, Sponsored Posts, and Long Term Partnerships. All of which is explained on Work with Me, but is also explained below.
Sponsored Product and Brand Reviews
Sponsored product and brand reviews are when the influencer is given a product/service for free to review.
For this type of collaboration, companies/brands typically reach out to the influencer or the influencer reaches out to the brand on their own or through an influencer platform. This is a great way for an influencer to create fresh content on their site or feed.
Sponsored Posts
Sponsored posts are posts that contain links that direct readers to the brand’s home page and a specific product page of their website. Influencers then receive compensation. Compensation typically includes money, products, and/or services.
Long Term Partnerships
Long term partnerships are mutual partnerships where the brand may provide compensation, services, or products in exchange for the influencer to continue to excite their audience while promoting the brand or company.
