Visiting Belgium – In de Seventies

In de Seventies

Down the street, my neighbors have not only the USA flag waving in their yard, but they also have the Belgium flag swaying along side of it. This only makes sense because they are from Belgium with family still living there.

In addition to my neighbors, I have met a wonderful blogger, who has become my friend. Her name is Barbara and she is the creator of the Wandering Cloud Blog. Barbara and I both share a passion for blogging with the goal of inspiring others to achieve their goals.

And, what do you know? Barbara is also from Belgium. So, having people in my circle from Belgium has inspired me to dig a little deeper into the culture, as well as places to visit in Belgium, when I am able.

The first place that I’m looking forward to visiting when I’m able to this quaint little diner called, In de Seventies. My hope is that Barbara and I can have the opportunity to chat in person instead of on WhatsApp, email and Instagram. But, until then, I want to share with you some details on In de Seventies.

In de Seventies

In de Seventies

In de Seventies is an adorable diner located in Westende-Bad, Belgium by the sea. By the name, I am sure that you can tell that the theme is none other than one of the 70’s era.

This 70’s theme shop offers customers an opportunity to relax and enjoy the “simple life” all while entering their world of memories and nostalgia of the seventies.

What memories come to your mind when you think of the 70’s? For me, I immediately think of everything and anything hippie related. I also think of good music on a record player, bell-bottom pants, and disco balls.

Regardless of what your personal thoughts are, In de Seventies allows you to come on in and get comfortable on their sofas while you imagine yourself in the 70’s.

How cool is that?

And, while you’re at it, you can enjoy a “Schalkse Tien Tripel” from Kempen, a “Jus de Mer” brewed in Westende or one of their other surprise beers while you leaf through a 70’s book, read the newspaper or keep up with the latest gossip magazines while enjoying music from the 70’s.

What would a 70’s diner be without music from the seventies?

In addition to beverages, In de Seventies also has a delicious menu consisting of breakfast, lunch and dinner options of your favorite foods such as bacon and eggs.

In de Seventies is open during the week, as well as Sundays and Holidays. To learn more about their establishment, visit them on Facebook and have a look at all the great reviews that I found on Tripadvisor!

Final Thoughts

I am thankful to have learned to have an open mind and be curious enough to learn more about others and their cultures. If not, I would have never met many of the lovely people who I now consider friends.

If you are ever in the Belgium area and happen to visit In de Seventies before me, please drop me a line and share your experience.
