Back in March of 2017, we hit our 10th state while on our Southwestern Tour. Our adventures to us on a Dreamland Safari Adventure tour in Kanab, Utah seeing some of the most amazing sites in Kanab.
Dreamland Safari Adventure Tour
Monday morning, we drove up to Kanab, Utah from Las Vegas, Nevada to take our Adventure Tour. The tour consisted of the popular Mystical Slot Canyon Tour combined with the Dinosaur Tracksite Tour at Moccasin Mountain.

With me having two young boys, who are active and love dinosaurs, this was the perfect half-day tour! It was truly a family educational adventure!
Location
Since we did not stay overnight in Kanab, there was no need for us to be picked up from a hotel. Instead, I followed my GPS and arrived right at Dreamland Safari Tours located at 4350 E. Mountain View Drive, Kanab, Utah 84741.
Once we arrived, we were warmly greeted by our guide for the day, Brent. He was very patient with the boys and answered all of their questions during the tour which was truly appreciated. Thank you, Brent!
Waivers
After completing our waiver and getting loaded up, we headed off to pick up two other ladies who were joining us for the Mystical Slot Canyon part of the tour. After picking them up, we headed right towards the canyon, driving through some of the deepest and vibrant sand I have ever seen – let alone traveled through.
Once we parked, our adventure began.
Mystical Slot Canyon and Hiking Difficulty
After a brief walk, we were greeted by the beautiful red and orange colored canyon, where we trekked through it taking the most amazing photographs. While the hiking difficulty is extremely low, there are plenty of opportunities to increase the difficulty of your hike, if you choose.
After reaching the end of the canyon, we turned around to head back to see the canyon from a different view. It was truly interesting because the way the canyon photographed going was not the way it photographed upon returning. I am guessing it was due to various shadows and sunlight.
Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park
As our Mystical Slot Canyon Tour ended, we headed towards the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. This made me happy because I didn’t know that it was a part of the tour and I had already made plans to venture this way after our tour was over.
However, since it was included in the tour, there was no need to venture back.
Not only did we enjoy just being there, but we learned a lot. We learned how the sand dunes change colors, smelled the wild sage, and learned about the steps of the White Cliffs of Utah.
Did you know?
The White Cliffs could be seen from Coral Pink Sand Dunes.
Dinosaur Tracksite at Moccasin Mountain
Afterwards we headed towards the vast Jurassic Desert of Moccasin Mountain to become paleontologists for a while.
As we arrived at Moccasin Mountain, we headed to the informational boards which gave interesting facts about ancient dinosaurs and the tracks that were discovered. Following this, we went to seek out as many tracks as we could.
Initially, I thought all of the dinosaur tracks would be huge, but boy was I wrong! Some of the dinosaur tracks are as small as little chicken feet, while others we huge enough to step inside.
?The tour was absolutely perfect for my 11-year-old as he was able to quickly spot the various dinosaur tracks.
Ending our Tour
As we ended the 4.5 hour adventure tour and headed back to our car, we learned other interesting facts about Kanab, such as learning about Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, the White Cliffs of Utah, cattle herding, public land, and even seeing where many of the old western movies and episodes were filmed such as The Lone Ranger.
So, What’s the Cost?
This particular tour of the Mystical Slot Canyon combined with the Dinosaur Tracksite Tour at Moccasin Mountain is 4.5 hours long. While no lunch is provided, snacks and water are.
The cost for Adults are $135 and Children 15 and under are $67.50.
