When it comes to working on our self-care, whether it’s to improve our self-esteem, our confidence, or simply to maintain a brighter, more positive attitude, it’s important to make it clear to yourself that you are, indeed, worth the time, effort, and money you spend on yourself. I hope you can relate and agree.
In fact, a great way to do that is by giving yourself little gifts. So, keep reading below and check out a handful of ways that you can give yourself a present and why it’s so important.
Surprise Yourself
One easy way to lift your spirits and to make every day a little bit more pleasant is to get yourself one gift every day. It doesn’t have to be planned, it doesn’t have to be anything big, and it doesn’t have to cost money.
For example, it might be buying a slice of pie at a local cafe, taking a break from work to go on a walk, or allowing yourself a lie-in during the morning. Rather than worrying about being too self-indulgent, make sure you’re not neglecting yourself.
Over this past week, my daily gifts to myself have been making delicious coffees in the morning before getting to work. I’ve been using my fancy mugs, spoons and milk frother. You can check out those coffee reels on my main Instagram.
Get Indulgent
Not all gifts have to be unplanned, either. It’s a good idea to plan out some time that you can really spend on yourself, as well. For instance, you can look at some wellness and self-care routines and give yourself a spa day to care for your skin, enjoy some luxury, and relax away from the stresses of the outside world. With this in mind, I opted for a set of pink facial ice globes; very affordable and relaxing.
Having a set time to indulge in a hobby you love, be it reading, knitting, watching a movie, or something else, can be vital, as well. It’s so easy for all of our time to get eaten up by our responsibilities, but we have to remember that we are responsible to ourselves, as well.
Brighten Up Your Own Day
There’s nothing quite like a present to future you from past you. The net has made it all too easy to order yourself the little indulgences that can put a smile on your face. It doesn’t have to be anything major, you can get a scented candle to help create a relaxing atmosphere or you can send flowers to yourself, no matter where you are.
Put It In Writing
All the little gestures above can be dedications of love to oneself when we need it. However, it can be a very valuable exercise to write a letter to yourself, as well.
Words of praise for how far you’ve come, encouragement for what you have left to do, and dedications to yourself to continue improving and fighting to grow.
Write a letter to yourself and give yourself some time before you receive it. This way, you might be able to remind yourself of some important thoughts and perspectives you can lose in the daily tumult of life.
Final Thoughts
We all deserve a little love and there’s nothing wrong with taking the time to give it to yourself with the tips above. What have you done for yourself lately? Leave a comment and let me know below.
