If a man can have a man cave, why can’t we women have a she shed? If you are unfamiliar with what a she shed is, take note. “She sheds have risen in popularity as a sort of femininity-driven answer to the classic concept of the very traditional man cave” according to The Spruce. It’s an ideal way to have some quality time alone, but right at home, as long as you have the space to create it.
She Shed Purposes
She sheds can have multiple purposes. For example, some women may want to use their space as a gardening shed or for other hobbies. For myself, I want a cozy little nook away from everyone else, but still right at home.
In my she shed I want to be able to be cozy and comfortable, have it decorated in ways that suit me and not the entire family consisting of mainly guys who don’t love the feminine decor and pops of pink.
I want to be able to work in there, enjoy my tea and beautiful tea seats, listening music, light my candles, and just relax when I want to. And, nothing is wrong with that.
Building Your She Shed for Your Budget
As I scroll through Pinterest of various she sheds, I get so excited about the possibilities. They can be as simple or as luxurious as you would like. It’s completely up to you and what you decided. She sheds can also be adapted from barns or garages, or be built from scratch.
There are a growing number of she shed kits and DIY kits available on the market. Some can be found for just about $500. Of course, the more luxurious you make it, the more expensive it will become.
If you are working with a small budget, using what you have is a great start. However, ff you have more of a budget to work with, buying one or building one from scratch is a great way to accomplish your she shed, especially if you have a large backyard.
Final Thoughts
Ideally, I would love to have my ideal she shed built from scratch to align with my personality and the function that I would like for it to serve. In addition to this, I want to be able to decide on the colors, the furniture, etc. And, overall, would like my she shed to be a reflection of me and as a place of calm and restoration.
Have you considered having your own she shed?
