Four Elegant Activities to Put on Your Holiday Bucket List

Earlier in the month of November, I shared a Life Lately post, in which I explained that I had been taking online courses and workshops on etiquette and elegance because it has become more important for me to move with more elegance and grace, especially now that I have my little girl. I want to be sure that I am setting a delightful example for her. With this in mind, I’m sharing four elegant activities to put on your Holiday Bucket List. Remember, elegance doesn’t have to be expensive.

Holiday High Tea

One of the most enjoyable and elegant activities that I have participated in over the past years as an adult is holiday high tea. Last year, during a winter weekend getaway to Indianapolis, my love and I enjoyed an afternoon of high tea at Tilly’s Tea Room located upstairs in Saks Fifth Avenue.

It felt so lovely to get dressed up and slowly enjoy and savor the delights of the small sandwiches, scones, and hot tea. So, not only did we enjoy high tea in a darling tea room, but we were able to stroll through Saks Fifth Avenue, as well.

A Holiday Performance

Another elegant activity to delight in is a live holiday performance. A few years back, I ordered a beautiful holiday dress (that I have worn multiple times) and took my niece and little cousin to a winter orchestra. It was so lovely to hear live music and see everyone dressed beautifully and in good spirits.

The Festival of Trees

Aside from what has already been listed, another favorite of mine that has grown with me since being in high school has been the Festival of Trees. The Festival of Trees is the name taken by a number of organizations that hold annual events around Christmas time to raise money for local charities and other community organizations.

When I was first introduced to the Festival of Trees, I began as a volunteer. Over time, I began to not only volunteer there, but participate in some of the special events that they had such as the gala, afternoon tea, and the reading of The Polar Express.

Each time that I participated, I grew to love the experience more and more. Now, as an adult, I love to get dressed in a fancy dress and stroll through with a cup of hot chocolate admiring the many Christmas trees that are on display.

Each Festival of Trees is a little different, but one thing that remains the same aside from their mission is that it is an excellent (and elegant) place to go when you are dressed up and take holiday photos.

Holiday Photos

Speaking of holiday performances and photos, another elegant activity to do is to have holiday photos taken at a historical or elegant place. As an example, a local theatre in our area offered short sessions where community members could schedule a time to come and take their own photos in their decorated historical building.

It was a free (and elegant) opportunity. So, not only were we able to take some quick holiday photos, but we could also check the upcoming calendar for upcoming live performances that we could later attend at the theatre.

Final Thoughts

Oftentimes, when we hear elegant, we often think of expensive. But, the truth is you can have an elegant experience for next to nothing.
