Hotel Felix: An Overnight Stay in Chicago

A Couple Days in the City

A few days ago, I posted a snippet of my weekend in the Windy City – Chicago, that is. I was so excited to get away for a little while, breathe, and have a little bit of fun. While I was there, I stayed at the Hotel Felix and was very satisfied with my stay there. Here’s a peek into my overnight stay in Chicago at the Hotel Felix.

A Couple Days in the City

Hotel Felix

Hotel Felix is a quaint, little boutique hotel located at 111 W. Huron Street. It is neatly tucked in between the Godfrey Hotel and Troquet River North.

The Godfrey Hotel is located right next door. I actually met with a photographer and captured some great shots on their skydeck and around the hotel. Boy, was it cold, though!

On the other hand, Troquet River is an indoor-outdoor French bistro with a bar – which I stopped in for a cocktail at the bar after checking in. The staff was friendly and the prices seemed pretty affordable for downtown Chicago.

Inside the Hotel

The inside is very luxurious looking with a small sushi bar tucked away in the lobby. And, let me just tell you that the sushi is yummy! That’s what I had for dinner since I didn’t feel like going out of the hotel for dinner. I’ll take a couple of Philadelphia rolls. Please, and thank-you. And, now I want more – as I write this. There are also vending machines, a fitness center, etc.

Inside the Hotel Room

Out of all of the hotels downtown Chicago that I have stayed in, this was by far the smallest. I didn’t mind, though since I was solo and only there for a night. Not only that, but hotels in downtown Chicago can be very expensive – so to only pay $99 for a room downtown was awesome in my book.

The bed was nice and cozy, there was plenty of lights, a desk, extra chair, and television. The bathroom was well lit and had a really nice shower. There was also a really nice fuzzy robe hanging behind the bathroom door that I didn’t see until I got ready to leave. Man, oh man! I would have loved to have gotten cozy and taken some photos in that robe.

Although, Chicago was cold and snowed later that weekend, the temperature stayed pretty warm and the heat was consistent in the room. I kept the thermostat at about 74 degrees. I don’t know if that’s typical or not, but you can always check this website for more information on heat and its effects in cold climates.

Outdoor Whimsical Art

Lastly, outside of the hotel are a few, fun and whimsical art pieces that I admired. The art was actually commissioned to celebrate Earth Day. You can read the plaque located on the hotel building or ask a staff for the full story.

Final Thoughts

My stay at Hotel Felix was very satisfactory. There are so many things I loved about staying there, such as the tucked away sushi bar located in the lobby and the relaxing atmosphere in the lobby. In addition I enjoyed the location of the hotel, as well as the price.

I don’t know that Chicago is on my list to travel to again next, but if it were, I wouldn’t mind staying here again. In the meantime, I’m looking for other travel adventures in warmer weather like Florida. We love Florida! Click today to learn more about the Sunshine State.
