Would you believe that the earliest finding of jewelry was dated around 25,000 years ago? That’s right! So, it’s fair to say that we have always loved to adorn ourselves with beautiful accessories.
But jewelry and jewelry etiquette has changed a lot over the years. From feathers to diamonds, over-accessorizing to keeping it simple, the trends are always changing and can seem to be all over the place. But, have no worries. Understanding Jewelry Etiquette
First, let’s jump into a bit of Jewelry etiquette. When you’re learning how to style jewelry, it’s important to understand that certain occasions and places call for different jewelry.
Everyday jewelry is the sort of jewelry that is always appropriate and acceptable to wear. Normally these are simple and understood pieces, such as a wedding band, or the Infinity necklace.

Know When to Stop
While some pieces of jewelry can certainly be layered, not all should. So, it’s important to know when to stop.
You draw attention to certain pieces when wearing jewelry. That’s why a statement necklace or bold earrings can be so stylish. However, over-accessorizing is a real issue — don’t fall victim to it!
Choose one area to draw attention to and stick to that. If you wear a statement necklace such as the Infinity Name Necklace, then wear simple earrings or none at all. Similarly, an arm full of bracelets shouldn’t be paired with bold or layered necklaces, too.
You don’t want to look tacky. So, know when your accessorizing has become too chaotic and all over the place and tone it down a bit.

It’s Okay to Mix Your Metals
Once upon a time, it was considered tacky to mix different metals. If you wore gold earrings and a silver necklace it was a complete fashion faux pas. This isn’t the case anymore. People do it all the time.
You can even experiment with different metals on one piece, such as a gold pendant on a silver chain. Or layered bracelets of different colored metals. It looks great — especially with a neutral-colored outfit.

At the end of the day, there are no hard and fast rules about how to wear jewelry and etiquette is changing all the time. Just remember to not over-accessorize and consider appropriate jewelry for each occasion and setting.
