Making Waves | Mermaid Swim & Sleepover with Hawaiian Shaved Ice’s Mermaid Tail Recipe

A few nights ago, we had a fun family night where we unboxed a Hawaiian Shaved Ice Machine which can be found on Amazon, learned how to make shaved ice cones, and learned about the many recipes on the Hawaiian Shaved Ice Recipe Blog. While scrolling, I found an interesting recipe called Mermaid Tail

I was immediately intrigued because it brought back memories of the mermaid sleepover that I hosted for my nieces a few years back. It also included a visit to the aquatic center for a Mermaid Party!

At that time, my daughter was not yet born, but now that she is here, we can recreate the mermaid sleepover and this newfound recipe. Keep reading for details from the previous party, plans for the new party, and the Hawaiian Shaved Ice Mermaid Tail recipe.

Setting the Scene at Home | Previous vs Current

Setting the scene at home (at that time) involved a quick dash to Dollar Tree for mermaid party essentials including some table netting, some mermaid dolls, and tableware, as well as a pit stop at Party City to have a mermaid balloon blown up that I had previously ordered from Etsy.

A few nights ago, I decided that there were a few other ways that I could help set the scene to make it more magical which included adding a shimmering mermaid tail balloon that I also picked up at Dollar Tree and a pack of iridescent seashells scattered about.

Mermaid Swimming Party, Urbana Park District, Urbana, Illinois

Looking back, once everything had been set up, my nieces arrived and we drove to the aquatic center for the Community Mermaid Swimming Party.

Every year, the community park district hosts a mermaid swimming party for families. For a small fee of $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents and a pre-registration, it is worth it. The girls get to swim with mermaids, take photos, and afterward enjoy treats and coloring activities in a mermaid-themed room. We had a lot of fun!

Once the party was over, we returned home, relaxing for a while before opening the mermaid dolls and letting the girls embrace their creativity by making a mermaid cake.

This is where the Mermaid Tail Shaved Ice recipe would have come in handy. But, no worries, we can do this now.

Mermaid Tail Shaved Ice

The Mermaid Tail Hawaiian Shaved Ice recipe is quite simple to make for you and your little ones to enjoy together. To make it even more themed and festive, opt for various mermaid-themed items such as cups and other containers.

The vibrant hues of blue raspberry syrup mimic the colors of the ocean, creating a visually stunning treat that will leave your little mermaids in awe. Top it off with edible glitter (optional)  and sprinkles for that extra magic touch.

Ingredients Include:

  • 16 oz. shaved ice
  • 2 oz. Grape syrup
  • 2 oz. Lemon-Lime syrup
  • 2 oz. Blue Raspberry syrup
  • Whipped cream
  • Mermaid sprinkles
  • Decorative picks or toppers

The Grape syrup and the Blue Raspberry syrup come in the classic pack, but you will need to order the Lemon-Lime syrup separately.

If the children are able, be sure to allow them to get creative by customizing their own Mermaid Tail shaved ice. Provide an array of toppings like gummy fish, edible pearls, and coconut flakes, allowing each little guest to personalize their own delicious masterpiece.

While we were making our recipes, I enjoyed how the Blue Raspberry looked and tasted. As I mentioned previously, it is certainly a flavor and color to use in any water-themed recipe.

Don’t Forget Photo-Ready Moments

Finally, don’t forget to capture the excitement on your little mermaids’ faces as they take their first bites of the Mermaid Tail shaved ice. These photo-worthy moments will be cherished memories that you document in an adorable mermaid-themed photo album or frame.

Final Thoughts

I love the idea of incorporating the Mermaid Tail Hawaiian Shaved Ice into our mermaid sleepover. The combination of delicious flavors, interactive fun, and adorable aesthetics is sure to leave a lasting impression on your little party guests and create memories that will be treasured for years to come.
