Since the month of April is just getting started, I will focus on the past 30 days to explain some of the things that I have learned “this past month”. I haven’t really been anywhere and most of the past 30 days have been spent at work or school. But from these two places, I’ve witnessed and learned a lot. With this in mind, check out three things that I have learned in the past month.
1 – Help People Develop, If You Can
I’ve recently taken on a supervisory role at work. I have one person under me that I’m training to be my assistant. And, as we have been working together, she has shared things about herself that motivate me to want to help her develop professionally.
When she leaves this position, because let’s be honest, one day she will. I want her to have had a great time in her position, and have developed professionally, as well as personally.
And, here’s something to keep in mind. You can’t help everyone. And, you can’t force your opinions on others. Relax and let people evolve as they may, but if someone wants the help, by all means, help them.
2 – Cheer and Celebrate the Accomplishments of Others (And, Yours!)
In February, my son and I both won Outstanding Awards. Mine was for work and his was for school. I haven’t stopped cheering for him. I’ve also patted myself on the back for a job well-done in my position, as well. It’s great if other people celebrate us, but it’s even more important that we take the time to celebrate ourselves.
Additionally, I was asked to complete recommendations for peers for two new positions. I was thrilled to be able to complete those and then send celebratory texts to them cheering for the best.
And, finally, I had a past coworker who grew to be a great work friend. After over 10 years of talking about moving to Louisiana, she messaged me to let me know that she had finally bought a house in New Orleans, Louisiana. I was so so happy, I cried. Mind you, she has been talking about this for yearsss. And, her dream/goal had finally come true! I couldn’t have been more excited for her.
I believe that so often, we get caught up thinking about ourselves and don’t truly celebrate people as they should be celebrated, or at least cheer for them. So, I’ve learned more over this past month about how important it is to do so.
3 – Say Great Things to Yourself
In the morning, once I am in the bathroom getting ready for the day, the first thing I say is, “Good Morning, Gorgeous”!”. It’s actually a song by Mary J. Blige. Some may call it conceitedness or arrogance. But, no. It gets me going for the day and I am then focused on good feeling thoughts and not tearing myself down. This is so important for manifestation and working with the laws of the universe.
Final Thoughts
Well, there you have it. Today I have shared three things that I’ve learned this month, mostly from being at home and at work. Lessons are all around us if we pay close attention.
What’s one thing that you have learned over the past month? Feel free to leave it in the comments below.
