Time4Learning Homeschool Review

As a member of Time4Learning, I have been given the opportunity to review their program and share my experiences. While I was compensated, this review was not written or edited by Time4Learning and my opinion is entirely my own. For more information, check out their standards-based curriculum or learn how to write your own curriculum review.

Time4Learning Homeschool Review

Over the past weeks, I’ve been sharing what we’ve been doing in homeschool with my 5th grader. In these previous posts, I’ve shared what our homeschool area looks like, some science experiments that we’ve been doing together, and our most recent field trip.

But, in today’s post, I want to share with you the homeschool curriculum that we’ve been using and plan to continue using for this academic year; Time4Learning.

Also, don’t forget to help your children write essays by checking websites to help with essays. They will be glad to get help from you and be more free to spend more time on entertainment.

Choosing a Curriculum

Over the summer, I did a lot of research and read a lot of information on homeschooling. Remember me sharing the book, Minimalist Homeschooling?

Anywho, I had a really strong feeling at the time that virtual learning through our district would not be a good fit for us; and after a week of trying it out, we learned that it wasn’t.

At the end of the first week of 5th grade, I knew that I had to make the decision on which homeschool curriculum to use because I was still undecided.

It wasn’t until I ran into my aunt at the store and poured out my frustrations that she told me about Time4Learning. She explained that she had actually enrolled her daughter in Time4Learning the previous year and that she would recommend it to any parent wanting to use homeschool as an alternative.

She further explained to me how the curriculum was set up, what I could expect, how much I could expect to pay, etc. After listening to her, I was sold.

I immediately came home, looked it up for myself and enrolled my son. The platform was so easy to use and the monthly fee was very affordable.

After just one week of using the platform, I decided to withdraw my 9th grade son from virtual learning and enroll him in Time4Learning, as well.

5th Grade Subjects

For the 5th grade, students are expected to learn Science, Social Studies, Math, and Language Arts. With Time4Learning, each subject is covered.

As a parent, I have the option to choose all of the material as it is, or remove what I do not want him to learn. I’ve kept everything for the most part.

In addition to this, I can set up each week’s worth of assignments with specific days. We love this! There are some days where I give him a little more and some days a little less. We’ve also been working to only have Science on Fridays because he enjoys Science very much.

Hands-On Activities

We have also been spending a considerable amount of time on Social Studies, but we are both learning and enjoying what we are learning. We have covered the Mayans, the Olmecs, Confucius, the Nubians, etc.

And, not only are we reading about it, but there are activities throughout the lessons such as word searches and puzzles that my son loves. There are also hands-on activities to do.

For example, when we were learning about the Olmecs, he was prompted to make an Olmec head out of clay. In another activity, he was prompted to draw a Jaguar God. I love how the assignments include breaks from the computer.

User Friendly

In addition to the hands-on activities built throughout the lessons, I also appreciate how the activities and quizzes are set up. Everything is very user friendly and the lessons come in a variety of formats.

Two days a week he works independently and on the other three, we work together. In our time together, we cover any concepts that he didn’t grasp the first time around. It is during this time that I have him retake any quizzes that he scored poorly on.

At the end of each week, I can pull up a report to see how he has done overall. I appreciate how I can see how many attempts he has on quizzes, as well as how much time he is spending on each subject each week. From this, I can determine where he struggles and where he needs additional attention.
