In a recent What I’m Doing Now post, I shared that I was visiting a Chiropractor soon. In that post, I didn’t give many details as to why because I wanted to save it for this post specifically.
Here and there I have shared that I have experienced some physical pain in my back and mentioned some of the remedies that I have tried.
Aside from more of the at-home remedies and seeing my doctor, it was best to see a Chiropractor. For my chiropractic services, I chose LifeClinic of Oakbrook.
If you keep up with social media, you can check them out on Twitter and Instagram. That’s where I get my updates. Their goal is to restore, maintain, and optimize your body.
LifeClinic Chiropractic & Rehabilitation, 2000 Oakbrook Center, Oak Brook, IL
LifeClinic Chiropractic & Rehabilitation offers both licensed chiropractors and physical therapists who perform non-invasive procedures and care for a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries and ailments.
I absolutely love this location! It is located inside Life Time. Life Time, Inc. is a chain of health clubs in both the United States and Canada offering expert instructors and luxurious spaces. From pools and jacuzzis, to treadmills, squat racks, and a basketball court (just to name a few), the facility is properly equipped to help you reach your goals faster.
When we walked in, we were blown away! This place is a whole experience. The building itself is located in the Oakbrook Center (a premier shopping destination) in Chicago’s western suburbs.
Upon Arrival
Upon arriving, we first checked in and then took the elevator to the third floor. When we got off of the elevator, we entered a fitness center which held multiple fitness machines such as treadmills and ellipticals.
A short walk through the fitness center takes you right to the front desk of LifeClinic Chiropractic & Rehabilitation. Once we made it to the desk, we were welcomed by the staff and I began my consultation with Dr. Michael Bettale, DC.
I always appreciate it when front desk staff are welcoming and kind. I feel that it sets the tone for the experience you are walking into. Not only that, but everyone looked fit and healthy – which says to me loud and clear that they value themselves, take care of themselves, and respect their bodies. This also tells me that they align with their mission which is important.
Dr. Michael Bettale, DC
After checking in, I went right back and began the exam. Upon entering the room, I felt comforted by seeing his credentials framed and displayed on the wall.
Dr. Michael earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Biology from Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri. Additionally, he completed his master’s degree in Sports Science and Rehabilitation and later earned his Doctorate in Chiropractic at the University.
What to Expect On Your First Visit
From my personal experience, here’s what you can expect.
On your first visit, he will perform a physical examination of the affected area to determine the root cause of your problem for your neck pain, back pain, headaches, or other areas on your body that need to be treated.
For me, it’s been my back. We talked about my areas of concern, daily habits, recent pregnancy weight gain, and delivering A’leigh – which was all important information to discuss for chiropractic care.
According to LifeClinic, “Chiropractic care is a holistic approach that treats the body, mind, and spirit in the quest to achieve optimal health and wellness. Instead of focusing on a single condition or body system, chiropractic treats the patient as a whole”.
Physical Examination
After conversing, we headed outside the room to work through the physical examination.
The physical examination consists of motion tests, palpation, reflex testing, and muscle strength to help identify dysfunction in movement patterns and poor muscle engagement. Others may also have X-ray and other imaging tests performed.
When doing your physical examination, you are doing a range of movements, so it’s important to wear comfortable, athletic style clothing.
After that, we returned to the room for a few more tests and briefly discussed some possible findings and solutions. We did not discuss everything to its entirety as I will return in a few weeks for my findings and discuss treatment.
You can expect your initial session to last about an hour.
What’s Hydromassage?
Once we were complete and my next appointment was scheduled, I was able to relax for a moment in the Hydromassage chair. I was so thankful for that time because my body surely needed it.
If you are unfamiliar with Hydromassage, this is a form of massage therapy that relaxes your body with heat and water. Typically therapists perform Hydromassages for their clients on a table, but this clinic offers a specialized chair that does it.
A Hydrotherapy massage helps ease tense joints for a better range of motion. It can also address misaligned parts of your body through this therapy (in which I need).
Chiropractic Services
Aside from mentioning the Hydromassage, it’s important to note the chiropractic services offered at this clinic which include Full Body Adjustments, Back Alignment, Hip Alignment, and Spine Alignment. Services treat multiple conditions.
Final Thoughts
While you’ll have to wait for a follow up post to read about my findings and next experience, I can tell you now that LifeClinic chiropractic services are worth it because you are getting great customer service and holistic care for lifetime success – all in one location.
Stay tuned for findings from my next visit.
