Eek! Halloween is at the end of this month and I haven’t done very much decorating besides creating this $10 Halloween Kitchen Basket with cute paper goods from Dollar Tree and Walmart.
Halloween is usually my favorite holiday to decorate for, but this year, I just wasn’t in the mood much. Not only that, but our house is very different due to the pandemic.

What life has been like…
For example, in the past, I would decorate the dining room table, the bar cart, and every nook and cranny in the living room. Life has changed.
While the living room still houses our couch and loveseat, it is now a classroom and office space. Aside from the couches, there is now a desk, white board, and bookshelf that take up a majority of the room. This is now where my youngest son does his homeschooling.

In addition to that, the dining room table has now become my work from home office. While I still have my office area, it’s set up for blogging and I can’t get my professional work done down there without getting distracted with ideas and pretty things.
New ideas for the holidays…
So, with all of this extra going on throughout the house, it’s been hard to figure out where and how to decorate for the holidays. So, after doing a few hashtag searches on Instagram, I came across the idea of occasion baskets for your kitchen.
The idea is to create a basket or small space in your kitchen dedicated to fun seasonal items that you can use for that particular holiday or season. I immediately fell in love with this idea and went for it. I’ll be doing this from now on actually.

After a few stops in Dollar Tree and Walmart, I came up with our perfect Halloween Occasion Kitchen Basket.
$10 Halloween Occasion Kitchen Basket
I first shopped our house for a few baskets and tablecloth or runner. I came across a black basket, a gold basket, as well as an orange table runner that came from the fall seasonal section from Dollar Tree. I also pulled out a plastic wine glass from last year in which I added suckers to.
While out, I grabbed plates, napkins, cups, plastic ware, a fun bucket, and candy. In addition to the paper goods, I did find an appetizer tray and an oven mitt that pulled everything together.
Final Thoughts
From there I just styled it the best way I could given the small space I had, and whola!
Just enough to add some Halloween cheer to the house for only about $10!
