3 Homemade Summer BBQ Party Decoration Ideas

There’s nothing I love more in the summer than a great backyard summer BBQ party. If you’ve been around the blog for a while, you may have seen me post quite a few summer backyard parties. One of my favorites has been the M&M’S Made for America Summer Party. For that backyard party, we had a theme and a ton of decorations.

I honestly believe that having a theme, decorations, good food, and entertainment makes a party really come to life. And, don’t forget the invites, especially if you are inviting several people.

With this in mind, I want to share our flamingo and pineapple themed family summer BBQ, as well as three homemade summer BBQ party decoration ideas. And, let me tell you this. They are easy!

Have a Theme

When planning a summer backyard BBQ, make sure you choose a fun theme! Not only does it make for great photos, but it makes it easier to narrow down any shopping or homemade DIY projects that you plan to create.

Once you have your theme, it’s easy to begin planning all that you’ll need. To set the theme, be sure to send out invitations.

If you are a stationery person, you can purchase or make invitations that fit your theme. If you prefer to send digital invitations, be sure to choose cute

Choose Themed Decorations

Next, you want to be sure to choose fun themed decorations. I love shopping my house first before spending any money. Since I absolutely adore flamingos and pineapples, I already have tons of this theme in a summer tote.

But, if you need to purchase anything, shop your local dollar stores first. You’ll find unbelievable finds that are truly affordable. Lastly, I enjoy making easy homemade decorations that add that personalized touch.

Two Easy Homemade Party Banners

Homemade party banners are my ultimate go-to. I usually make a variety of these during the holidays. For example, for Christmas, I hand all of the cards that we receive on ribbon in the kitchen or living room. It’s so easy to make and really festive.

With this concept in mind, I want to share two easy homemade party banners.

Photo Banner

The first banner is a photo banner. Simply empty your phone of some of your stored photos and have them printed. Then use mini clothespins and hang them on some jute twine. That’s it! This is an easy way to personalize your party.

Supplies include photos, jute twine, and clothespins.

Ink Stamp Banner

The second is an ink stamp banner. We have a lot of ink stamps at our house. So, I simply cute some craft paper into squares, ink stamp the paper, and hand the squares on some jute twine. That’s it!

Supplies include craft paper, jute twine, clothes pins, ink stamper, and ink.

Good Food & Presentation

Aside from party decorations, you want to be sure to have good food. You don’t have to go all out, keep it simple and take your time in preparing just a few, really good things.

Be sure to dress up your table, as well with a nice tablescape. Again, I use a combination of store bought items and DIY items.

DIY Themed Chargers

For example, to get the color of the chargers, I spray painted some chargers that we had with spray paint and finished the look with the primer sealer. That’s it! Another very easy summer BBQ party decoration, this time for the table.

Supplies include Spraypaint and Primer.

Entertainment

Lastly, be sure to have some entertainment. For us, we have music, take fun photos, and play games.
