Adios, August 2021! Lookbook & Recap

Can you believe that today is September 1st? August certainly zoomed on by. While my intentions were to continue enjoying leisure summer activities, that didn’t necessarily happen.

Instead, there was moving, storage units, and transferring insurances and services, returning to the office full-time, the boys returning to school, and my oldest son being put on crutches, and now a walking boot. Whew! So, much for leisure activities!

The plus part about it all is that our move is complete and now we are just working to get into a new routine. I’m back to cooking healthy meals, again, grocery shopping weekly on a budget, and we’ve all been exercising more than we have been over the past year.

Reshape Me App

To encourage me throughout the day with my habits, I’ve been using a new app called the Reshape Me app. Reshape Me believes that losing weight is easier with a personal plan and I agree.  When I first downloaded the app, I entered my goals and details to get started.

Throughout the day I get encouraging notifications and reminders such as, “Hey, Brennon, did you check your weight today?” Or, “How was dinner?” I appreciate those notifications.

There are also exercises and meal plans built within our plan which is really nice. I haven’t yet started on these, but plan to soon. The Reshape Me app makes me feel like I have a friend encouraging me throughout the day and checking in on me. So, far it’s pretty cool.

My goal is to lose weight and trim up so that I can get back to feeling comfortable and confident in my clothes, especially since we are physically back in the office and amongst people instead of just being on the screen from the shoulders up.

Wardrobe Happenings

With that in mind, the loungewear is now tucked away for weekends, while the work clothes are being moved towards the front of the closet. I’ll be doing a complete revamp of my wardrobe now that life has changed once again. Prior to us moving, I packed up two Thred Up bags to send away. Who knows, I may even make a few dollars.

I’ve been very intentional with getting dressed on most days. In fact, I’ve shared my wardrobe happenings on Instagram in a few short reels. Everything is mostly from Shein and rue21. I’ve also been writing about how to shop at Goodwill and consignment shops to refresh your return to work wardrobe on NewsBreak (below).

I’ve even re-partnered with Femme Luxe to bring some cute fall options to the forefront – which I’m pretty excited about!

NewsBreak Continues

Speaking of NewsBreak I’m grateful that I have been approved to continue writing for September.

My August content focused on a few more posts from our visit to Las Vegas, a few clothing posts covering a consignment shop, and Goodwill that really went crazy.

It made me think that perhaps I need to write more about clothing on NewsBreak, instead of leisurely places to enjoy like Crane Alley’s World Wide Beer Tour?

If you haven’t already, go ahead and follow me on NewsBreak, or join to be a creator.

Books, Books, and More Books

Lastly, in all of my downtime, I’ve been reading a lot of books, listening to a lot of meditation and manifestation music, and also watching a lot of motivational videos on YouTube.

Now is just a fantastic time to take a deep dive into personal development. In fact, September is National Self Improvement Month. So, if you haven’t invested in your development lately, this month would be an awesome time.

And, if you are unsure on how to get started, go ahead and check out a recent post, 5 Ways to Learn New Skills as a Busy Mom.

Thoughts to Go!

Instead of final thoughts, here are a few thoughts to go with you throughout your day. If you haven’t invested in yourself lately, carve some time out to do so, whether it’s reading a book, taking a class, or simply masking your face and enjoying a bubble bath

Because remember, you are the most expensive thing that you will ever own, so treat yourself accordingly.
