For those who have a passion for makeup artistry and aspire to be a certified makeup artist, you can achieve your goal in one day through Glam Labs Studio in Chicago.
From personal experience, I can tell you that you definitely want to have some level of expertise or experience prior to attending the one-day certification course.
While this is not required, it’s certainly beneficial so that you understand the terminology of the industry, as well as hands-on makeup techniques when it’s time.
So, what can someone expect during this full-day course?
Certified Makeup Artist – Makeup Pro 101
To begin, you will need to register yourself online and reserve your spot in the course. Payment for the course is an affordable $199 which can be paid once you arrive and check in.
Prior to COVID, upon arrival, students check in and pay their fees. Once everyone is checked in, you’re seated audience style, review the syllabus, and watch a few makeup demonstrations.
Lunch and Network
Once the demonstrations are complete, students are able to take a short break for lunch and shop in-house for your makeup kit or other makeup items you’d like to purchase.
Once each student has time to shop, students are paired up to begin working on each other’s makeup application following the steps given in the syllabus and demonstrations.
Hands-On Application and Practice
While working with your partner to create various looks, it’s important to know that demo makeup is provided.
However, I would strongly encourage people to bring their own kits, if they already have one or purchase kits during lunch because there’s nothing worse than being in the class and not having the tools you need to create the looks that you are going for.
During this time, the instructor(s) are able to walk around and view your application techniques to see if you have what it takes to become a certified makeup artist. This is why it’s important to have some experience under your belt.
Freelance Education
Once the application portion of the day is over, students learn about the business of being a freelance makeup artist.
This is extremely helpful and important information because it helps students to better understand how to find jobs and establish a career in a step-by-step fashion.
Following this educational component, the course wraps up with evaluations, certificates, and photos.
The New Approach to Training
While this method is the traditional way of the course, Glam Lab Makeup Studios has adjusted its program on how to get certified during the pandemic.
The new option and approach allows for you to complete approximately three hours of initial online education through the new Glam Lab Education portal.
Once complete, Glam Lab will then schedule a private one-on-one training where the Instructor comes to you! How amazing is that?
You will work with your Instructor, as well as a live model perfecting your techniques and guiding you so you can launch your own business or work at Glam Lab.
Students that receive their Makeup Artist Certification are approved by over 50 cosmetic lines and also qualify for Advanced Master Classes after this course in HD, Editorial, Red Carpet, and more.
