Just so you know, November 4th is National Candy Day!
Now, I’m just going to tell you like it is.
October’s Classic Candy Box arrived. The boys and I gathered around excitedly and started going through the box. I was taking pictures as we went, of course. But, as we were going through the candy, they started asking if they could have this or that.
Old Time Candy
As I started seeing all of the old time candy that I loved as a kid – that I can’t find around here, I grew secretly excited! Instead of being honest, I masked my greed and told them that they could only have a few pieces. And, mayyybe they could have more later in the week – because I care about their teeth. Right?
Perhaps.
But, the truth is… I wanted the candy. LOL. I’m talking wax lips and all.
And, sadly, I caught myself up in the middle of the night, tiptoeing to the kitchen to snack on some of those old time goodies. Let me tell you something. I perched up in my bed all cozy and enjoyed every bite of that delicious, Bun Caramel candy bar coated in peanut infused milk chocolate. Yummmm.
Please, don’t judge me. (LOL) I mean, I did let the boys have some.
Chuckles
My oldest son was begging to tear into the Chuckles and I let him. But, you know me. He had to have a history lesson to go with that pack. LOL. That’s what moms are for.
So, I told him all about how the Chuckles brand was introduced by Fred W. Amend in 1921 in our hometown of Danville, Illinois. I had to also remind him of the Walldogs Chuckles Mural that features those soft, yummy, jelly candies.
The crazy thing is though, is that it is hard to find Chuckles in our town, even with it being the original home.

Final Thoughts
This has been a great box to enjoy! The packaging was sturdy and colorful. The candy was packaged tightly in matching purple paper shreds, and I even got an information sheet which tells fun facts about the candy and a personal thank you.
We still have plenty of candy left, so I plan to not be selfish and share with mom. She is going to love that old school, bubble gum cigar and candy cigarettes.
