Dining Solo at The Literary & Hopscotch Bookbar

Over the past few months, I have visited The Literary & Hopscotch Bookbar a handful of times. I have taken my nieces on Saturday morning for a book reading and children’s activities, as well as dined in, walked through, and also snagged a few photos there. This place is heaven for booklovers alike.

From the outside, The Literary & Hopscotch Bookbar could look like your typical coffee shop, but don’t be fooled—the place offers much more than just your average caffeine fix. At The Lit, you can enjoy avocado tartine with poached eggs on top or sip on a s’more latte along with a book from the plentiful supply in the corner.

The atmosphere alone makes The Lit worth visiting on any day of the week, and it’s even better if you have time to enjoy it solo as part of your morning routine.

Avocado Tartine & S’more Latte

While there is a beautifully curated menu of breakfast items, I especially enjoy the Avocado Tartine. It’s both incredibly filling and delicious. If you are unfamiliar with what it is, it is an open-faced sandwich served on delicious toasted bread, topped with miso, sesame kale, jammy egg, and black garlic molasses. It’s definitely a beautiful and filling breakfast, or brunch – if you choose.

To top off my breakfast, I ordered a holiday S’more Latte instead of my typical coffee. It was served in a beautiful glass and topped with a giant marshmallow. It was the perfect combination for Christmas Eve.

Books Galore

Aside from the delicious menu of eats and drinks, the best thing about having a meal here is being surrounded by books—it’s like having your own personal library right there. With The Lit being a literary-themed bar, it is complete with bookcases on every wall and shelves filled with books. The extensive selection of literature on these shelves covers every topic imaginable, so you’re guaranteed to find something you like while dining solo.

Wonderful Service

As for the service in this establishment, I appreciate it. The staff is kind and interacts with you in a manner that makes you feel like you’re dining among friends. From my perspective, I believe that the staff has an attitude of gratitude, as they make sure to thank you for your visit or order.

Overall Impression

The lighting is bright and inviting, but not harsh. The atmosphere is relaxed, with soft music playing in the background and an eclectic mix of people. A wide variety of books are on display for browsing and purchasing, as well as other things such as stationery, cards, magnets, earrings, and enamel pins, and stickers, just to name a few.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve never been to a book bar and you are a book lover, I would highly suggest adding one to your Bucket List. If not, I must say, you are missing out.
