Essential Toiletries to Bring on Your Travels

Essential Toiletries

Packing for traveling can be a daunting task. Why? Because it can be a difficult thing to get right, as you want to travel as lightly as possible, but you also want to have peace of mind that you have everything you need. Can you relate?

This becomes even more challenging if you plan on hiking or moving between different climates. However, your list of toiletries can pretty much stay the same. You want things that are versatile so that you don’t have to bring too much but still have all of your needs covered.

When moving in between climates, one common item people typically like to bring include talcum powder. It has been known to prevent chafing and is good as a substitute for dry shampoo. However, due to the Johnson and Johnson asbestos case, it is probably best to stay clear.

Nevertheless, there are still  other great toiletries to bring along including coconut oil, bicarb of soda, soap bars, and sunscreen, amongst others.

Essential Toiletries

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is one of the best travel hacks. It is a great moisturizer for both your hair and skin and even removes makeup. It is also a natural insect repellent and has some UV protection. But, please keep in mind, this should not be used in place of sun cream.

In addition to these benefits, coconut oil also has anti-bacterial properties so you can use it to treat small wounds.

Another great way to use coconut oil is to mix it with bicarb of soda which makes a great toothpaste, face scrub, and natural deodorant.

Just don’t forget your toothbrush.

Lastly, it is important to remember that coconut oil can be very compact. A small amount of it will go a long way, making it a great item to pack into your toiletries kit.

Baking Soda

Bicarb of Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate)

As previously stated, when put with coconut oil, bicarb of soda has some fantastic uses. But, even on its own, it has a lot of great uses. For example, bicarb can treat dandruff, soothe insect bites, and even be used as an alternative to talcum powder.

Other clever uses include using it to stop chafing or even as a dry shampoo, if you don’t want to bring yours. Lastly, it can also prevent bad smells, such as in your shoes when you are doing a lot of walking.

Essential Toiletries

Soap Bars

You can now get shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, and body wash all in bar form. They last a long time and are easy to pack. You may want to keep the deodorant separate from everything else and wrapped in something to keep it moist.

Have you ever considered beeswax paper or baking paper to wrap your items in? You may want to consider it.

Essential Toiletries

Sunscreen or Sun Cream

Although this is something that you should be able to buy from anywhere, it can be expensive in other parts of the world. Especially if native people don’t need it. Therefore, if you are traveling on a budget you may want to bring your own. These sun cream sticks are recommended by many.

Final Thoughts

With just a few items you can have everything you need. When choosing your toiletries, choosing versatile items you will save money and precious room in your backpack or suitcase.

And, if you have a little while before you travel, consider buying your items beforehand and test them out to make sure they suit you. Everyone’s skin, hair, and needs are different. So, just be sure that you are comfortable and have your needs met while you travel.
