Happy National Online Learning Day and 3 Tips for Success

Happy Friday!

Did you know that today was National Online Learning Day? Yep, that’s right!

So, in honor of this day, I want to share with you 3 tips for being a successful online learner.

While, I spent most of my undergraduate degrees in brick and mortar schools, I tackled my masters degree completely online. Some people love the flexibility of earning a degree online while others struggle with self-discipline and motivation to stay the course.

So, if you are someone who struggles to stay the course, I want to share three things that helped me succeed.

3 Tips for Being a Successful Online Learner

First, use a planner. I know this sounds so simple. But, you will not believe the amount of people who do not use some sort of planing tool to stay organized. Write down when each assignment is due and check your planner daily.

If using a paper planner is not your thing; that’s fine. Use an online app that will help you keep track of important dates. Recently, I have been using the Inspired Year Planner. You can check out my full review on the initial giveaway. I love it because not only is it a planner, but it is also geared to wards goal-setting.

Next, if you need help, ask. Although, online learning takes place in a virtual space, you can still get the help you need to succeed. Many colleges offer an online tutoring center or services such as Smarthinking. Smarthinking allows you to work on a whiteboard, in real time, with a real person and get the help you need for a variety of subjects.

In addition to this, don’t forget to use office hours. Office hours are hours that the instructor has blocked (almost daily) to work with students who need additional support.

Finally, proofread your assignments using Grammarly and get in the habit of turning in assignments on time. Grammarly has become by BFF in the world of writing. You can create a free account that will spell check and check for grammatical errors, or you can upgrade to a premium account which will check for more critical issues.

As a matter of fact, I just celebrated my one year Grammarly anniversary since using it solely for Just Brennon.

Well, there you have it. Three of the most important tips that helped me to succeed as an online learner in an online environment!
