Babymoons are the perfect trip to get in a small vacation before the baby arrives. Ours was planned for Las Vegas for three days, and even though we lost A’leigh prematurely, we continued with our babymoon because it was still so much needed.
This time for bonding with the partner helps strengthen the relationship before the family expands. Planning a babymoon isn’t like planning any normal trip. There is a lot of consideration that needs to be taken into account, and it’s the type of trip that’s recommended to not plan entirely ahead.
The tips below will help you out with planning the perfect getaway during your pregnancy or even afterwards.
Think About the Timing
Timing is everything when it comes to babymoons. You’ll want to make sure you’re feeling well, so it’s best to not plan it out too far ahead.
The point of a babymoon is getting time to relax before the baby arrives. Personally, I feel that the second trimester is usually best because the first trimester is often when women feel sick. And, if you wait too far into the third semester, getting around could be an issue.
Not only that, but some airlines restrict pregnant women from flying depending on how far they are in their pregnancy.
What will be your mode of transportation?
Speaking of flying. It’s important to consider your transportation. Generally speaking, it is safe for pregnant women to fly on a plane as long as it is before their third trimester. However, if you’re going to have twins or triplets, then it’s best to not travel after 20 weeks.
There are so many things that women aren’t told when pregnant, and transportation is one of them. Wouldn’t you agree?
Again, the second trimester is usually best because morning sickness isn’t as prevalent and the baby bump isn’t so big either. It’s just best to think about where you want to go, and how you plan to get there.
Consider the Distance
Once you have nailed down your mode of transportation, then it’s time to think about distance. Sitting for long periods of time can be uncomfortable and painful when you’re pregnant, especially if you have a big baby bump. So it’s best to choose a destination where the travel time isn’t too long.
Do Your Research
While it’s super tempting to jump on the first flight or hotel deal that you spot, don’t do it. It’s best to research what area is best suited for pregnancy.
For example, if you’re looking into a mountain getaway, then check the elevation as this affects pregnant women. If you’re interested in somewhere tropical, then keep in mind humidity because the humidity can really be uncomfortable while pregnant.
There are a lot of things to take into consideration, and it’s important to feel good when going on this babymoon. So, just be sure to do your research.
A Note on Researching Health Care Facilities in the Area
As you are doing your research, be sure to research hospitals and urgent care facilities in the area, just in case there is an emergency. One thing that you don’t want to happen is an emergency and you are taken to a facility with not the best care.
If something like this happens there may be a chance of dealing with malpractice depending on the reputation of the hospital. To avoid this, do your research. You can also read more here about it.
Secure Travel Insurance
Speaking of health care facilities, don’t forget about travel insurance. It’s always best to secure your babymoon or any trip with travel insurance. If you’re planning this trip in advance, and medical issues or an emergency arises like mentioned before, then travel insurance could help.
Think about Suitable Activities
Lastly, it’s important to carefully consider the activities that you will participate in. You’ll want to do some appropriate activities for pregnancy, so maybe nothing too crazy.
For example, some pregnancy-friendly activities during your babymoon would be going for short walks such as our Las Vegas Pop Culture Walking Tour, seeing something nice at the theater, visiting various museums such as the American Sign Museum or the Neon Museum.
Other enjoyable activities could also include but are not limited to going to the beach, scenic driving, tours around the city, and going to the spa.
Lastly, consider a commitment ceremony while on your babymoon as a way to confess your love to one another right before the baby is due. It’s another way to create memories and enjoy your time with you and your partner.
Final Thoughts
It’s important to note that you don’t want to push yourself as being on your feet for too long can cause a lot of pain, but so can sitting for long periods of time. Just take things slowly during your babymoon.
