This post is in partnership with Thousand Trails.
If you have been following along on the blog, you would come to know that we absolutely love camping and cabin camping. So, with Spring just getting started, the first thing we wanted to do was set the season off right with some lake house camping at Indian Lakes RV Resort.
Rainy weather or not, we headed to Indian Lakes in Batesville, Indiana on Sunday where we enjoyed several days in a premium cabin. To me, the cabin seemed much more like a lake house because it sat right off of the lake. There was even a beautiful lake view from the bedroom window.
Thousand Trails
Indian Lakes RV Resort is a part of the Thousand Trails network consisting of 81 campgrounds located in popular camping destinations throughout the United States, British Columbia, and Canada. This network offers customers the best value in camping with a variety of membership options.
If you are not a member, it’s important to know that each Thousand Trails campground caters to members and non-members alike, so you do not need to be a member to enjoy these campgrounds.
In addition to this, it was interesting to see two campgrounds merged together as one. Not only was this campground for Thousand Trails, it was also a KOA kampground, so visitors could partake in amenities from both, Thousand Trails and KOA.
Amenities and Activities
Speaking of amenities, Thousand Trails campgrounds are packed with varying amenities and activities such as swimming pools, basketball, bocce ball, boating, fishing, clubhouses, hiking and biking trails, tennis, volleyball, pickleball, mini golf, playgrounds, horseshoes, and more.
However, since we chose off-peak season vacationing like we normally do, the pool was closed. But, that didn’t matter much for us because the boys enjoyed playing basketball as they always do, watching the geese at the lake, playing at the playground, and relaxing in the cabin on their electronics (of course).
When we did finally get them off of the electronics, we made our favorite camping snack; s’mores! You simply cannot go cabin camping and not make s’mores!
If you have never made a s’more, you are missing out! They are super easy, whether you chose to make them over a campfire or in the microwave. Check out this Pinterest pin to learn how to make your own.
Cabins at Indian Lakes
On most cabin camping occasions, we choose a basic or efficiency cabin because of our shorter stays. However, when we stay within the Thousand Trails network, we stay in premium cabins with a longer stay.
This premium cabin sleeps 6 instead of 4 which offered us more room than we normally have in smaller cabin settings.
Our premium cabin included two rooms. In the large room or common area was a queen sofa bed, rocking chair, two rollaway beds, tv with satellite, and dining table.
Everything was extremely clean with an up to date modern look. The bedroom overlooked the lake and included a full size, comfortable bed with bedside lamps, and a dresser.
For the boys sleeping arrangements, I thought that they would choose to sleep on the sofa bed, but instead, they chose to pull out each rollaway bed and make them extra cozy by using their own pillows and blankets in addition to what was already on the bed.
There was also a bathroom in the cabin, as well as a stand-in shower and full kitchen – fully stocked with the kitchen essentials any camping family would need such as a coffee maker, electric can opener, and microwave.
It is important to know that while linens may be reflected in the photos, linens are typically not included but are available for rent. Other special touches included paper towels, soap, mini dishwashing liquid, dishwasher pods, etc.
Yes! There was a dishwasher in the kitchen! Yayyy!
Finally, although, we do not have pets, pets are welcome for an additional fee in pet-friendly cabins.
Final Thoughts on Indian Lakes RV Resort
This was our first time at this particular resort. The campground was large, but it was not difficult to navigate especially with the map provided. Staff were accommodating and friendly, and even all of the guests that we encountered were friendly and helpful.
Several families even stopped and asked us if we wanted them to take our family photo (below) with all of us. Them asking us was a very important gesture because it shows that those who utilize the campground are welcoming whether we were members of the network or not.
Lastly, while we did enjoy another family cabin camping adventure together, we didn’t get that “one” family photo that I am always looking to get. LOL. We did however get this one piece of photo where the three of us were clearly in our own little worlds. LOL.
Maybe on our next adventure, we’ll get a better family photo during a campground activity. Each time I have stayed at a Thousand Trails campground, a calendar of activities have been provided to keep families engaged and participating in activities during their stay.
