Who knew that yesterday was National Bourbon Day? Well, I didn’t know until I was searching to see which hashtags were trending yesterday. Haha! Yes, I do that. Anywho, once I found out I got excited because I felt like the day should be celebrated as pre-game for my upcoming experience on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
But first, what is National Bourbon Day?
According to National Bourbon Day, it’s about celebrating the rise of bourbon in America. Ok, that works for me.
Now, let’s talk about the fact that I have never had bourbon until yesterday. And, boy, oh boy, I don’t think it’s something that I could ever get used. Whew!
Nevertheless, while out with a friend last night, I decided that we should toast to #NationalBourbonDay and celebrate the fact that the experience of the trail is well on its way. I wanted to celebrate and call into existence that damn passport and t-shirt. Haha!
So that’s just what we did. Memories in the making to say the least.
Now, about that trail…
The Kentucky Bourbon Trail
The Kentucky Bourbon Trail is a program of the Kentucky Distillers’ Association (KDA) with a focus on promoting the bourbon industry in Kentucky. Several distilleries are located throughout Louisville and Lexington on the trail.
Upon beginning the trail, you receive a passport. Once you have completed each stop on the trail, you receive a Kentucky Bourbon Trail shirt. It’s as simple as that. And, I want them both.
With Kentucky being one of my favorite states, I really want that stately experience as a part of my life journey. It’s just one of those things on my bucket list that needs to get checked off this summer.
Did you know that with all of our travel last year, we went through Kentucky multiple times. Yep. And, each time that we passed through, I would attempt to stop at a distillery – only it never worked out.
I guess it just wasn’t my time.
Nevertheless, I was able to grab a few photos along the way of some other distilleries and horses.
