October Kids Night In Box | It’s Spooktacular!

Kids Night In Box October Review

As of 10.8.21, I am no longer an affiliate. But, please use this post to inspire you to create some meaningful time with your children.

Heyyy! Check this out!

Last week we went on vacation down south and did some cabin camping, visited Mammoth Cave National Park, and paid a visit to a few family entertainment establishments. And, let me tell you. I was worn out with being in everyone else’s space.

I couldn’t wait to get home and just be home.

Well, when I went to pick up our mail from being on hold, October’s Kids Night In Box had arrived. The box was super festive and matched our Halloween decorations at home! Pssst. Have a peek below.

So in my mind, I knew how we would be spending our evening at home that night.

And, that’s just what my youngest son and I did. We spent a very late evening together enjoying the Halloween Spooktacular activities. And, get this. There were so many activities that we didn’t even get to do all of them in that one night.

Our plan is to continue our Spooktacular activities later this week and watch many of the recommended movies such as Hotel Transylvania – which is already one of our favorites!

My Appreciation

After experiencing this box and last month’s Date Night In Box, what I have learned and come to appreciate is that the contents in the box are able to be used more than once. I appreciate that!

For example, although we completed our Haunted House drawing, there are plenty of supplies to continue similar Halloween activities at home. In addition, the manuals that come in the box can be stored for future date nights.

Enough about all of that! Let me tell you what was in the box and what all we did.

What’s to Eat?

Each month dinner recipes are available from Marina Makes (Your Personal Night In Boxes Chef) and Night In Boxes Recipes. On the page, you can download your shopping list and see step by step instructions on how to prepare the meal of the evening.

This month’s recommended recipes included The Great Pumpkin Cheese ball and Spooky Chocolate Covered Oreos. Although, the recommended recipes sounded delicious, we decided to wait until this coming weekend to make them.

Spooktacular Activities

Instead, we jumped right into the activities of reading 10 Timid Ghosts by Jennifer O’Connell, making the Spooky Monster Hand Popcorn Snack, building the Haunted House, and doing the Spooktacular Art.

Just an FYI, glue is needed for the Haunted House. I chose to have my son tell me where he wanted his details and I used my glue gun to glue everything in place.

Time Spent with our Spooktacular Activities

These activities alone took us about 2.5 hours, but about 3 hours if you include reading the book and discussing the reading questions. This was a great way to practice reading comprehension in a fun way.

Since there were so many activities, we decided to wait and build the Spiders and Ghosts Obstacle Course, make the food, dance to the Dancing with a Ghost, and watch the movies this coming weekend.

My 8 Year Old Son’s Final Thoughts and My Hopes

My son’s love language in focused quality time, so he loved our Kids Night In together. He said it was one of the best nights we have had together at home.

He even requested that we continue getting these boxes because he loves the time we spend together doing the activities and it’s a surprise to what’s in the box. I agree.

My personal hope for you from this post is to provide you with inspiration for your own kids night in and to help you build a better bond with them in a fun way at home.

This Date Night In box is perfect if you are short on time in planning. It’s also very convenient because it ships directly to your home. This isn’t something my parents ever did with us, so it makes me so happy that I can enjoy these moments with my boys.

Ordering Yours is Easy

Instead of hitting the town for a kids night out, you can opt for this subscription box for only $41.99 with free shipping to strengthen your bond with your child(ren). Not only is it very cost effective, but there is more than enough for just one evening together!

Ordering your own Kids Night In box is easy.  Simple, follow the instructions listed here.

This looks amazing. What a great box of fun things to do. I think a Christmas activity box would be amazing for those pre Christmas excitement nights.
