In just a few days, Ollie’s will have its grand opening in Champaign, Illinois. But, lucky for us, we were able to experience it for ourselves on a special invite before the public. We got an exclusive look inside and were blown away by the incredible discounts available.
If you are unfamiliar with Ollie’s, it is America’s largest retailer of closeout merchandise and excess inventory.
Now, before I go any further, I have to say that this is not my first experience with Ollie’s. In fact, it was one of my favorite places to shop and browse when I was living in West Virginia years ago.
Back then, I was working as an Adjunct Instructor with an itty bitty paycheck. So, quite naturally, Ollie’s was an ideal fit for my less-than-average budget.
Not only was it an ideal fit for my budget, but the store carries everything from clothing and accessories to home goods and electronics. So, if there was anything that I needed, it made sense to check Ollie’s first.
Since then life has of course changed, however, my excitement about shopping at Ollie’s has not! So, when I heard about its opening in Champaign, I couldn’t wait to check out what this Ollie’s had to offer. And, we were definitely not disappointed!

Pre-Grand Opening
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this pre-grand opening event, so I was rather surprised with the outcome. As we arrived, the store was a bit quiet with only invited shoppers, all eager to take advantage of the amazing deals and discounts being offered prior to the grand opening.
We spent about an hour and a half wandering through the aisles amazed at the variety of items available; there was something for everyone. They had top-brand items available for a fraction of the cost we’d expect to pay elsewhere.
It was no surprise to find name-brand items such as Tupperware, KitchenAid, and Oyster all marked down to pennies on the dollar. Okay, maybe not pennies, but certainly up to 70% off the fancy store prices as the chain claims. Shopping at Ollie’s is always like being at a bargain basement sale in the best way possible.

Fun Hauls from Ollie’s Are a Must!
Although I didn’t plan to do a ton of shopping, I did want to do a fun haul that I could share on the blog. I love cute and fun hauls that bring a smile to people’s day.
In this haul, I grabbed two books, Nivea Firming and Toning Lotion, Dove Hand Wash, Maui Curl Milk for my daughter’s hair, Ghirardelli Chocolate, wasabi peas, and a bag of Cheez-Its that I ate on the way home. Together everything was $20.

Anywho, it is certainly fair to say that Ollie’s has something that fits your style and budget. They even carry outdoor accessories so you can enjoy the great outdoors in comfort and style. I’m actually looking for ways to spruce up our patio for spring. I can’t wait to spend more time outdoors.
The selection of home decor items was also impressive. From wall art and mirrors to rugs, curtains, throw pillows and blankets. Ollie’s has everything you need to create the perfect look for your living space. There were also a lot of toys, snacks, books, and personal items.
And if you’re looking to upgrade your kitchen, Ollie’s is the place to go. They have a wide selection of small appliances, from air fryers and waffle makers to microwaves and toasters. They also carry cookware, dinnerware, and glassware so you can create the perfect tablescape for your next dinner party. For us, it will be a St. Patrick’s Day theme (green and lucky).

From my personal experience of being on a tight budget, I’m sure that Ollie’s will become the go-to store for savvy shoppers looking to upgrade their homes without breaking the bank – especially since the town has so many college students residing in the town that is on a tight budget.
