The Christmas holiday season has always been a time of year that I looked forward to. And, this year was no different, even though life has been different with the pandemic. Who would have thought that we would have been living in these strange times?
With life being different, it’s been so important for me to keep life as normal as possible in our household. And, it’s become even more important for birthdays and holidays.
To make life more merry in our household this month, I’ve been doing a lot of decorating around the house including decorating the kitchen with a Christmas occasion bin and hot chocolate bar, decorating the dining, the living room, and my desk area.
But after looking around, I decided that I wanted to slay for the holidays, even if I was just around the house.
So, in today’s post, I’m giving you a glimpse into how I’m Sleighing for the Holidays in rue21.
What is rue21?
If you are unfamiliar, rue21 is an American specialty retailer who offers affordable and trendy clothes for both girls and guys. What’s even better is that they offer trendy and affordable clothing in plus sizes, as well. Thank you, rue 21. In addition, clothes are designed to appeal to people who desire, wish, or feel to be 21. Ahhh, to be 21 again!
Rudolph Won’t You Guide My Sleigh Tonight in this Hacci Knit Dress
The first item that I ordered was this Plus Oatmeal Heather Corset Waist Hacci Knit Dress. It’s sweet and simple. When I saw it under the New Arrivals, I knew I had to have it because it’s perfect for me to wear on our Zoom holiday party this year.
This comfy dress features a crew neck, long sleeves, and a corset waist made to intentionally flaunt your waist. In addition to these features, I adore how I can be cozy around the house in it or dress it up with jewelry, fancy shoes or knee high boots. It’s a versatile dress that’s just right for your holiday party, whether you are showing up in person or online.
All I Want for Christmas is You…and this High Waisted Leopard Print Outfit
The next two items selected were also from the plus size New Arrivals. These two items include this Plus Leopard Print Open Twist Back Tunic and these Plus Dark Wash High Waisted Skinny Jeans.
Leopard print is great for any holiday! And, besides I love all things leopard print, so I was naturally drawn to this top. I can’t stop wearing it. I mean, really, it’s simply gorgeous.
It’s cozy and soft and features an open, twist-back design, a scoop neck, and a flattering tunic length.
It pairs wonderfully with these dark wash skinny jeans or these Plus Dark Wash Ripped And Repaired Ankle Jeggings. I wasn’t sure which jeans would look best with the twist back tunic, so I wanted to try a different style of jeans, as well.
Both pair of jeans also fit wonderfully with this Plus Black Woven Lace Long Sleeve Top. This black woven lace top is so classy. I love it!
Regardless of which style of jeans you choose, both outfits can be dress up with beautiful jewelry and fashion boots, or dress down with casual shoes or boots.
Visions of Sugar-Plums
The last two dresses in this haul include this Plus Purple Tie Dye Mini Hoodie Dress. Kind of retro, I would think. And this Plus Pastel Colorblock Hoodie Dress. When I saw these, they immediately reminded me of a Christmas play that I was in as a child, especially the pink color block dress.
As the story read, “The children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads,” my part was to dance across the stage as a sugar-plum.
It was cute. My mom helped me make my sugar plum costume out of large sheets of paper that were stapled around me and scribbled in with purple and pink crayons, dashed with glitter and cute socks.
Instead of cute socks this go around, I decided that these dresses paired perfectly with these Mauve Faux Fur Trim Work Boots. So, if love pink and faux fur like I do, then you need this in your life this holiday season!

Well there you have it. All the ways I’ll be Sleighing for the Holidays in rue21. What I appreciate most about this haul and the new arrivals is that you can mix and match the pieces to create a variety of looks.
