Last weekend, my family and I embarked on a delightful summer adventure as we attended the Mahomet Soda Fest in downtown Mahomet. With the sun shining brightly and the air filled with excitement, we couldn’t wait to dive into the world of unique and tantalizing soda flavors. The festival promised over 100 different sodas to taste, and we were ready to embark on a flavor-filled journey that would surely tickle our taste buds.
A Festival for the Senses
As we arrived downtown, the vibrant atmosphere immediately caught our attention. The festival was buzzing with energy, as families and soda enthusiasts alike eagerly explored the myriad of options available. The sweet aroma of soda filled the air, enticing us to embark on this – not only a one-of-a-kind adventure but first of a kind adventure.
A Tasting Adventure
With our tasting cards in hand, we eagerly began our exploration of the various soda offerings. Each card allowed us to experience ten different tastings, which at a mere $5 each was a fantastic deal. The sheer variety of flavors was staggering, ranging from classic favorites to intriguing and unexpected concoctions.
Among the unique offerings, we stumbled upon Route 66 sodas, which took us on a nostalgic journey down the iconic American highway. And, if you know anything about me, you know that it is my dream to travel Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica – beginning to end.
The Jones Special Release Turkey and Gravy soda was an amusing surprise, capturing the essence of a traditional Thanksgiving feast in a carbonated form.
As we ventured further, we encountered the Honey Bun soda made with real honey, which delighted our taste buds with its perfect blend of sweetness. And then, there was the Unicorn Yak soda, a whimsical creation that combined a burst of fruity flavors with a touch of magic.
While there were countless flavors to savor and enjoy, these were a few that stood out most to me.
A Summer Delight
The Mahomet Soda Fest was more than just a celebration of unique flavors; it was an event that brought families together to create lasting memories. Everywhere we looked, we saw children laughing and families sharing their experiences.
The festival organizers had thoughtfully included activities such as live music, a variety of vendors, a huge photo op, train rides, and other gems, ensuring that there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Aside from the delicious sodas, the festival also featured local food trucks offering a variety of tasty treats to complement our soda tastings. The combination of delectable bites and refreshing sips made for a truly satisfying culinary experience.
