3 Things We Learned from our Dreamland Safari Adventure Tour

Slot Canyon

In March of this year, we hit  our 10th state in 2017 while on our Southwestern Tour by taking a Dreamland Safari Tour in Kanab, Utah! This was definitely a wonderful family experience! We learned so many things, but today, I just want to share three of the most important things we learned from the tour.

3 Things We Learned from our Dreamland Safari Tour

1. Arrive on time and with an open mind.

Since we did not stay overnight in Kanab, there was no need for us to be picked up from a hotel. Instead, I followed my GPS and arrived right on time at Dreamland Safari Tours located at 4350 E. Mountain View Drive, Kanab, Utah 84741.

Once we arrived, we were warmly greeted by our guide for the day, Brent and headed out to pick up two other ladies that were doing the tour with us.

Since, most tours are group tours, it is important to arrive on time, so that the tour continues to flow on time and as planned. With group tours, you are spending a half a day with practically strangers that come from all walks of life. So, be open minded and not judgemental. Remember, you are all there to have a great time.

2. Be in good physical health.

Our overall tour consisted of the popular Mystical Slot Canyon Tour combined with the Dinosaur Tracksite Tour at Moccasin Mountains. While the level of difficulty was for beginners, there is still a lot of walking and balancing needed.

While on the Mystical Slot Canyon Tour, a boulder had fallen into the path and blocking the way. In order to continue the tour, we had to climb over the boulder, which was at least five feet high. Thankfully, I am in decent enough shape and could climb over the boulder. But, what if I had not been?

In addition to the Mystical Slot Canyon, we trekked Moccasin Mountain in search of Dinosaur Tracks. Moccasin Mountain takes balance to say the least. Check it out for yourself. What do you think?

3. Tip your tour guide.

I know, you may not always think about this, but it is important to tip your guide. You tour guide will share a wealth of information with you that is not necessarily included in the tour. For example, during our tour, we learned so much about the land, wildlife, horticulture, ancient natives, and even spotted a few pictographs.

But, our tour guide also shared interesting facts about Kanab, such as learning about Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, the White Cliffs of Utah, cattle herding, public land, and even seeing where many of the old western movies and episodes were filmed such as The Lone Ranger.

Final Thoughts

While all tours have their similarities and differences, I can honestly say that no matter what tour you take and where, these three learning lessons can be applied to any guided tour your take. And, as always, if you have questions… your tour guide is sure to answer them.
