As parents, we are always on the lookout for fun and interactive ways to help our little ones learn and develop. One resource that I’ve shared multiple times on my Instagram account and on Just Brennon Blog is the Letters and First 100 Words Flashcards by Skillmatics.
For the past few months, we have been working heavily with the flashcards, but moving forward I would like to incorporate other products into her learning development such as Letters, Numbers, Shapes & Colors, and First 100 Animals. I don’t even think I can name 50 animals. So, I’m curious to see the entire pack of 100.

Letters and First 100 Words Flashcards
Now, that we have covered some of the basics, let’s chat more about these flashcards. The Letters and First 100 Words flashcards are designed to introduce young children to the alphabet and the first 100 words that they are likely to encounter in their daily lives.
The cards are made of heavy cardstock, brightly colored, and feature pictures of animals, objects, and people, making them visually appealing to young children.
Wouldn’t you agree?
Using Flashcards with Babies
Sometimes, I get asked why am I already using flashcards with my daughter, but the truth is. It’s never too early for them to begin learning. In fact, the earlier the better, in my opinion.
Using these flashcards on the weekends has turned out to be our routine. It has become our way to play which helps engage her in learning.
Earlier, I mentioned that the cards are made of heavy cardstock. This I appreciate because it makes it easy for her to hold and manipulate without destroying the cards. They are also large enough for her to hold. She enjoys looking at the pictures and hearing me say the names of the objects.
More on How We Use Skillmatics Flashcards
One of the best things about these flashcards is that they are versatile and can be used in many different ways. Here are a few ideas that have worked well for us:
Name the Object
I show my daughter a card and say the name of the object or animal pictured. For example, “This is a cat.” I repeat the name a few times and encourage her to look at the picture.
Point and Match
I lay out a few cards and ask my daughter to point to a specific object or animal. For example, “Where is the rabbit?” Of course, she doesn’t exactly know right now, but this is preparing her.
In addition to this, I try and use cards that match items that are similar. For example, I use the rabbit flashcard when she is wearing her Bunny Slippers. They match and she will become more and more familiar with what a bunny and a rabbit are.
Sound Effects
Finally, I make animal sounds or other noises to accompany the pictures on the cards. For example, I might say “Meow” when showing her the cat card, or “Vroom” when showing her the car card.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I have found the Letters and First 100 Words Flashcards from Skillmatics.com to be a great tool for engaging my 7-month-old baby girl in learning and play. The cards are high quality and durable, and the colorful pictures and simple words are perfect for young children.
So, I would highly recommend these flashcards to other parents looking for a fun and interactive way to introduce their babies to the alphabet and basic vocabulary.
