What Should Be Part Of Your Last Summer Hurrah?

How can it already be September? Last time we checked, it was June, and we were getting ready for the longest day of the year. In a blink, the summer has rushed away from us.

Not to worry, though. We’ve still got a couple of weeks left to enjoy before we can finally embrace the autumnal season – and there are plenty of lovely things about it, starting with Halloween and pumpkin spice lattes! Yessss!

In the meantime, however, let’s not bury the summer just yet. The sun is still warm. The bees are still buzzing around our lavender bushes. And, the most important of all, we’re not quite ready yet to hang up our maxi summer dresses. Now, are we?

So, why not plan a last summer hurrah to celebrate our love for sunshine, heat, and everything the summer has to offer – before moving to the next glorious and delicious treats that fall has planned for us?

#1. The Sea

Can there be a summer with the ocean and the beach? There are two types of sea-lovers: Those who love nothing more than being in the water, and those who prefer to be on it.

You can use your next weekend to tick all the boxes of a beach day out. Pack a simple and nutritious picnic that will keep you going all day and get your bag ready. You sure want your best swimsuit for this. Make sure to add sun protection and a pair of sunglasses, as the light can be especially intense by the sea.

Finally, the best way to keep everybody satisfied is to plan a boating day. You can look for the best boat club in your location and hire a vessel for the day. Don’t forget to use a reliable boat propeller, ensuring smooth navigation and an enjoyable boating experience for everyone.

Dock your boat in a cozy bay area where swimmers can enjoy the water while you relax on the deck with a sandwich and a soda.

#2. An Open-Fire Feast

Technically, if you’re honest with yourself, you could have an open-fire feast any day of the year. In summer, however, you can chill by the fire, gently toast your marshmallow while enjoying the view of a starry night.

In winter, you’re most likely to be tightly wrapped in blankets like a human burrito, which makes the whole outdoors eating a little less enjoyable. So, now’s the best time to head to your closest fire pit – whether it’s your garden or your local park –, grab a pack of skewers and plenty of fresh ingredients to prepare a grilled dinner you won’t forget.

Sit back, let the fire work its wonders while you take the time to enjoy the fresh summer breeze on your skin. Close your eyes. Breathe in. Breathe out.

Ah, bliss. This, my friend, is what paradise must feel like.

#3. One Last Ice-Cream for Good Luck

Ice creams are one of those things that you could eat all year round. However, in summer, they somehow taste a little better! Why so? Because when it’s so hot outside, the only thing you want to eat is a deliciously creamy ice cream that is gently melting away in the sun.

But don’t just get your favorite flavors from the shop. Make it special; this is your celebration of summer, after all.

Where are the best ice cream parlors in the US? The answer is everywhere, but you can pick one location and turn it into a weekend trip.

If you live on the east coast, The Bent Spoon in Princeton, New Jersey, offers a whopping 550 different flavors as well as some pretty experimental flavors too – pumpkin with dried morel mushrooms, anyone? But, California lovers should head to Bi-Rite in San Francisco, which offers – drum roll, please – cream cheese carrot cake flavor

#4. A Night of Togetherness with Nature

In a few weeks, Mother Nature will begin her slow undressing for the winter. But there’s still plenty of time before the leaves turn golden and the nights get cold to immerse yourself in nature.

When was the last time you went camping?

If you can’t remember, you need to pick your favorite national parks and spend a gorgeous night at one of their campgrounds, spotting wildlife and waking up to the songs of birds.

For the relaxing sound of the water, try the campground at the Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas or the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in NC. You’ll feel energized by the morning!

Final Thoughts

In summary, don’t let September rush you out of your summer dream. You can still plan a last hurrah, on the sea or in an ice-cream parlor – or why not combine both?

I think we will.
