National Toasted Marshmallow Day

After spending the weekend tipi camping and roasting marshmallows, I couldn’t help but to post about National Toasted Marshmallow Day and show a few of our photos.

National Toasted Marshmallow Day is observed and celebrated on August 30th.

History

Marshmallow toasting is said to have derived from Ancient Egypt. It was considered to be a sweet candy made for the Gods and Royalty. How interesting?

You can read all about it in an article by the National Confectioners Association (NCA).

Speaking of the NCA, this unofficial and sweet national holiday is actually sponsored by the National Confectioners Association.

Bonding

When I think of toasted marshmallows, I can’t help but reminisce on all of our camping trips. All of the trips have been filled with friends, family, love, bonding, and yummy s’more making.

On our recent camping trip, I have to be honest and tell you that I failed to bring the chocolate and graham crackers this time; which resulted in us simply toasting marshmallows as an evening treat over the campfire.

We had single marshmallows, stacked marshmallows, slightly toasted marshmallows, and charred marshmallows. LOL. You name it, we had it. I guess you can say we’re “Royalty”. LOL

How to Make S’Mores

Toasting marshmallows, or even making s’mores is loads of fun and pretty inexpensive to make. I get all of our ingredients from Dollar Tree which include the following;

Want to see how we make ours?

Check out our visit to Indian Lakes Campground for oouey gooey photos of the s’mores we made there earlier this year or check out our visit to the Priebe Pumpkin Patch where we made yummy ones there, too!

When is the last time you roasted marshmallows around the campfire and made some good memories?
