Originally, I created and scheduled this post to publish once I had arrived to Florida, the Sunshine State for an It Works conference! Only, I’m still sitting (stuck) in terribly freezing temperatures in the state of Illinois.
Nevertheless…
When was the last time you thought about why you do the things you do? Well, for me, it’s been a HUGE focus lately. I’ve been honing in on why I do the things I do and visualizing the results I want to see from doing the things I do.
Hello, manifestation!
With all that being said, I want to talk about this blog, where it started, and where I see it going one year from now.
Started From the Bottom
For starters, when I started this blog in 2014, it began as an outlet for me to share our stories as we ventured throughout this thing called life.
Entering 2014 was a huge life change for us because we were starting a new life as a new little family of three. I wanted a place to document our new happy, family adventures and what we were doing.
As I wrote more and more posts, such as our first big, family vacation to Legoland, Florida and wrote about my short-term and long-term goals, something happened.
Slowly but surely (somehow), people began picking up on my little ol’ blog and reading it.
This was a pretty cool happening because I had no real knowledge of how blogging worked besides writing and posting. I knew nothing about sharing posts, SEO, keywords, nothing.
Burn Out Strikes
After two years of writing and posting, I got burned out. I had no idea where the blog was going, so I left the blog and lost my original domain www.justbrennon.com (which although says it’s available for sale, it really isn’t).
Professional Blogging Does Exist
At the end of 2016, I decided I wanted to write again and share pictures, but by this time, I fell upon the professional side of blogging; the business side that I didn’t know existed.
From there, I began learning everything I possibly could about blogging. I learned how to pitch letters to companies from a blogging stand point, as well as SEO, analytics, keywords, headings, etc.
Let’s Travel Blog
So, when 2017 rang it, I took my blog to a whole new level focusing on travel and I loved it. Our goal was to travel to as many states as possible and document our travel experiences. We didn’t hit 50 in 2017, but we did hit 17 states in between work and school.
In between travels, I slowly began to expand and add in various product reviews, tips on health and beauty, as well as manifestation and personal development. A broad range, I know. But, that’s the kind of person that I am.
Monetizing, Providing and Building
In 2018, I focused on monetizing my blog, providing quality content such as providing tips and reviews, and building an audience. This can be hard work, especially if you are new and learning.
By the end of 2018, I hit burn out mode, again and pretty much stopped blogging cold turkey.
So, What’s the Plan?
As a result of this, I didn’t know where I was heading with this blog in 2019. Without having a focused direction along with my lack of posting, my audience dropped off. Because of this I had to really spend some time asking myself, what is the direction of this blog and where will this blog be one year from now.
And, then I came to an answer.
This blogging business isn’t going anywhere. Because just like any other business, it comes with its own set of challenges and slow times. But, I am going to embrace those times as learning times to be be able to continue to provide content that is valuable.
I want this to be a piece of the internet where you can come come and find the inspiration you need – whether it be for a family night or travel adventure. It could be that you are just looking for a little personal development and motivation – and, that’s okay because that’s here’s too.
So, where will this blog be one year from now?
Still here, documenting life, providing inspiration, and thriving even better than before. I hope you’ll stay around awhile.
Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you would like to see more or less of.
