Your Business Plan is Your Blog’s Blueprint

Your Business Plan is Your Blog’s Blueprint

As a professional Career Counselor, I have come to learn what career choices are a great fit for me, as well as those that are not. I’ve also come to learn the areas of interests that I have, along with my talents and abilities.

For example, career choices for me lie within education, social services, and art. In addition to this, I have strong abilities in language, art, and management.

In terms of work values, I know that I value creativity, independence, and a good salary.  Knowing all of this, it’s quite obvious to see that blogging is a natural fit for me, entrepreneurial-ly.

But, first, let’s take a quick look at how blogging has evolved over the years. In the past, one could simply write something and post it and you were good to go. Gone are those days.

Now are the days, where you must wear several different hats that cater to a combination of skills and interests – with one of the bigger ones being business.

Yes, if you are blogging professionally, meaning, you earn income from the work you do from blogging, having entrepreneurial skills is a must.

This is why you should always start with a good blog business plan

But, what is a business plan? And, how do you tackle it?

What is a business plan?

Have no worries. Growthink walks you through 10 components of a business plan in an easy to understand article, as well as various resources and templates that assist you with your business plan, whether it’s for blogging or something entirely different.

So, let’s take a peek at what a business plan is and what are the 10 components.

For starters, a business plan is a detailed document that helps you get real clear on the direction, goals, and vision of your business. In addition to this, it’s critical in attracting lenders and investors or companies that you want long term partnerships with.

What’s extremely important to know is that when you organize your thoughts and plans into one central place, it increases the chances of you starting a successful business, or in my case, a blog.

Now, let’s briefly go over the components of the business plan.

The 10 key components of a business plan includes the following:

1. Executive Summary

2. Company Analysis

3. Industry or Market Analysis

4. Analysis of Customers

5. Analysis of Competition

6. Marketing, Sales & Product Plan

7. Operations Strategy, Design and Development Plans

8. Management Team

9. Financial Plan

10. Appendix

In reviewing just this outline, it’s easy to see why your business plan is your blog’s blueprint. While each section is extremely important, I find that the most important part of the business plan for me is the Marketing, Sales & Product Plan because this explains your strategy for penetrating the target markets. This includes your brand, your image, and promotional strategies, just to name a few.
