10 Things I Learned (And, Relearned) This Week - Part 2

Yay! I’m glad that you made it over to part two. If you missed the first part, check it out below.

10 Things I Learned (And, Relearned) This Week – Part 1

4 – The Universe is working for you, not against you.

Today, I decided that I wanted my boys to have mentors that were not related to them. Family is wonderful, but I also believe in various perspectives. I kept thinking about it and wondering where should I go to get started. I forgot about it for a while and went on with my day.

Later I received a phone call from an intern who wanted me to collaborate with a program that she was working with. I told her that I would be happy to do what she was asking and sent her instructions. I never asked about the program and never looked at the website.

Then later when I had some free time, I said, let me check out the website and see who I will be working with. It was exactly the kind of mentorship program that I was looking for! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I immediately put in a request for each of the boys, signed up for an upcoming event, and did an online donation for the event.

The Universe was definitely working for me and not against me.

5 – Stay calm and cheerful.

To receive the things that you have asked for, yes there is efficient action that must take place, but you must also, hold the vision you want for yourself in your head, and stay “calm and cheerful” as what you have asked for is moved closer to you.

Staying “calm and cheerful” are the words of Earl Nightingale in the Strangest Secret. I’ve listened to that twice this week on the way to work. If you haven’t had a chance to listen to it, check it out on YouTube from the link provided, or grab the book from Amazon.

6 – Let people do what they want to do so that you can see what they would rather do.

This is a quote and so true. Sometimes, we want people to do what we want them to do. But, if you just take a step back from the situation and allow them space, you will be able to see what it is they actually wanted to do – whether good or bad.

7 – Boundaries are important. Know when to say no. Period.

8 – Gratitude is paramount.

Y’all, listen. If y’all are not practicing gratitude daily and all throughout the day, how can you expect God or the Universe to bless you with more if you aren’t grateful for what you already have?

Today I sat for 10 minutes and just wrote all that I was thankful for. I felt so great and blessed afterward, I can’t even explain it. But, this wasn’t a one-time thing. I do this all the time. Whether, I do it verbally, written, or in my Notes in my phone; it is something that I do multiple times a day and for everything.
