I’ve been thinking long and hard about how I want to document this year’s season of fall. After giving it some considerable thought, I decided that I would capture the essence of autumn intentionally in two different travel journals.
The first of the two is a charming brown, vintage faux leather travel journal from Amazon. The second is a beautiful pastel travel journal that I picked up on clearance from Walmart many months ago. Both offer plenty of space to capture the essence of fall through photos, mementos, sticker embellishments, gratitude, and reflection.
I intend to capture all of the charming autumnal experiences that come my way in my vintage faux leather travel journal and all of the fun and colorful happenings in my pretty pastel travel journal.
With these travel journals each serving different purposes, I want to share some creative travel journal ideas, based on our plans for autumn.

Charm is a quality or characteristic that captivates, delights, or attracts people and is often associated with qualities such as charisma and the ability to make others feel comfortable and appreciated.
It is a concept that I am working into my day-to-day living this fall and want to capture what this looks like for me. Documenting in a traveler’s journal sounds like a match made in heaven.
With all of this in mind, below are three charming experiences that I plan to include in this vintage faux leather travel journal.
An Autumn Picnic
For the past few autumn seasons, I have said that I would plan a beautiful fall picnic, but have yet to do so. We’ve successfully managed fall family photos and some fall picnic content, but we haven’t yet nailed that ideal charming picnic.
However, deciding to create this journal has given me the spark that I need to push through and create and savor a gorgeous picnic while documenting the journey.
Pumpkin Patch Paradise
Aside from a beautiful fall-themed picnic, we know that fall isn’t complete without visiting a pumpkin patch. Wouldn’t you agree? This traditional traveler journal makes the perfect canvas for documenting a charming day trip to a gorgeous midwestern pumpkin patch or even riding the pumpkin train.
Imagine documenting the fun of picking out the perfect pumpkin for carving or getting lost in a corn maze, each page in your journal becomes a canvas for preserving the autumn memories.
Galena, Illinois: A Hidden Gem
Aside from some of the one-day experiences or day trips, I have planned a few beautiful fall weekend getaways with the primary destination being Galena, Illinois. Galena is a quaint town a few hours away that exudes charm and history – making it an ideal town to visit when you are considering charming fall destinations.
While documenting in the faux leather travelers journal is geared towards all things charming, the pretty pastel travel journal is for documenting all the fun and excitement that this fall has to offer.

Fashionable Adventures Travel Journal Ideas | Pretty Pastel Travel Journal
Before I jump into some of my fashionable adventure ideas, let’s define fashionable adventure. In my eyes, fashionable adventures are stylish and trendy experiences or activities that involve fashion and fun.
With this in mind, I have decided that this travel journal is where creativity meets style and will reflect some of my style choices and adventures; especially now that I’ve created a fun fall wardrobe capsule!
Two journal inserts are included, but my thoughts are to only use the grid notebook which will allow me plenty of room to include various photos and mementos.
Wardrobe Wow: Living a Fashionista’s Dream
As an example, I am taking a five-week community education course geared toward fashion and developing your personal style. Any fun photos or PowerPoint slides that I capture will be housed in this pastel travel journal.
If you can take a community education course in your town, Coursera offers a variety of classes online.
My goal is to take the journal with me to the final few classes so that I can jot down style tips, and noteworthy ideas, and grab a few photos of our visit to the consignment shop on our last day of class. I can already see the cute fashion-themed embellishments that will adorn some of the pages.
Exploring Chicago’s Art Scene
Aside from documenting my Wardrobe Wow experience, I have planned our family a few day trips to Chicago. Chicago really comes alive with art during the fall season. You can find everything from pop-up exhibits and museums to street murals and an array of fall festivals.
Chicago has so much to offer on the art scene, making this journal ideal for documenting my thoughts on the art that I encounter on our day trips.
Stylish Day Trips
The final idea that I want to share in this post, is the idea of documenting my outfits on these mini-adventures which blend my adoration for style and exploration. Oh, how fun it will be to look back at the variety of outfits worn for each occasion.
Final Thoughts
With all of this said, I’ll be embracing the spirit of the season by filling two distinct travel journals with mementos, photos, journaling, gratitude, and reflection.
The charming brown vintage journal will hold all things charming, including my day trips and weekend getaways, while the pretty pastel journal will be the canvas for my more stylish adventures and artistic escapes.
Whether we’re wandering through pumpkin patches, discovering the history of Galena, or honing in on my fashion sense from Wardrobe Wow, each page will tell a story of my fall adventures and I can’t wait.
