A Sweet Garden Tour Adventure in my Jessakae Strawberry Shortcake Dress

A Sweet Garden Tour Adventure in my Jessakae Strawberry Shortcake Dress

The transition from summer to fall is such a magical “season”, and there’s no better way to embrace the beauty of nature than by embarking on a walking garden tour.

Recently, my children and I had the pleasure of visiting the Allerton Mansion for a Saturday morning garden tour, and we couldn’t have asked for a more delightful experience. Taking a tour at the Allerton Mansion is a captivating journey through the natural beauty and historical charm of such a remarkable estate.

If you have never been, I would highly encourage a visit. The Allerton Park and Retreat Center is located at 515 Old Timber Rd. in Monticello, Illinois.

What made the morning even more special was that my daughter and I decided to twin in our adorable strawberry-themed dresses. In this post, I’m excited to share a bit of a recap from the tour, along with a practical fashion decision to pair the Strawberry Shortcake dress (now sold out) from Jessakae with comfortable and casual white tennis shoes.

Dress for Comfort

First things first. The key to enjoying a garden tour to the fullest is staying comfortable throughout your visit. Wouldn’t you agree?

The Strawberry Shortcake dress is not only stylish but also incredibly comfortable. Its lightweight fabric and flowy design make it the perfect choice for a morning spent exploring the gardens.

As we strolled through the manicured gardens, we were surrounded by a lush tapestry of vibrant flowers and ancient trees that have witnessed generations of change.

This is why I would have to say that this beautiful strawberry print dress adds a touch of whimsy and perfectly complements the natural beauty of the gardens.

In addition to wearing the Strawberry Shortcake dress from my mystery bundle, I styled my daughter in one of her strawberry dresses and paired her dress with tennis shoes, as well. I even added some light pink ruffle socks to compliment the bottom portion of her light pink, tulle strawberry dress.

Practicality Meets Style

Pairing this charming dress with casual white tennis shoes was a brilliant move. White tennis shoes are versatile and can be dressed up or down, making them a practical choice for a walking garden tour.

Wearing these provided the support and comfort needed for walking the hour-long garden tour and learning about the Allerton Mansion’s rich history and stunning architecture.

Practical Accessories

Being on a walking tour, I wanted to make sure that I could enjoy it while also snapping a few photos, and keeping up with everything that I needed. With this kind of responsibility, I would suggest keeping your accessories simple and functional – just as I did on our Las Vegas Pop Culture Walking Tour.

Had I not had the stroller, I would have worn a crossbody bag which allows you to keep your hands free for taking pictures or exploring. It’s also convenient for carrying essentials like water bottles, snacks, keys, and your phone.

Almost Twinning with My Mini

If you’re visiting the garden with your daughter, consider twinning outfits like we did. She can wear her own strawberry-themed dress or choose a complementary outfit. Twinning adds a fun and memorable element to your outing and makes for some adorable photo opportunities.

National Strawberry Month

Had I had this dress earlier, I would have certainly worn it as we celebrated National Strawberry Month in May. It would have been ideal to wear all spring and summer from strawberry picking events and picnics to church and any other strawberry-themed activities that may come your way.

Interesting Fact: The Robert Allerton Park is a 1,517-acre park, nature center, and conference center.
