5 Friendsgiving Ideas, Plus Amazon Decorations!

In two weeks, Thanksgiving holiday will be upon us, however, not everyone has the good fortune of spending Thanksgiving with their family. In this case, people turn to the made-up tradition of “Friendsgiving”.

Friendsgiving is often referred to as a Millennial holiday, but it doesn’t have to be. In fact, it doesn’t matter who you are. If you simply don’t have a family to celebrate with, corral all of your nearest and dearest friends for a Friendsgiving to remember.

With all of this in mind, I have put together a quick blog post sharing five of my personal Friendsgiving ideas, along with the decorations that I ordered this year for our Friendsgiving luncheon at work.

Decorate Like Crazy

For starters, there is nothing like having a welcoming environment that screams Friendsgiving. To do this, be sure and set the tone and theme for your Friendsgiving. Some may opt for a more formal setting, while others may opt for a more fun setting.

For example, this year, I ordered this fun Friendsgiving party decoration set from Amazon. It includes multiple mylar balloons with leaves and pumpkins, two banners, and several latex balloons.

For the plates, napkins, cups, and tablecloths, I’ll visit Walmart and Dollar Tree. Together, these items are perfect for celebrating in a work environment where things are fun and disposable.

However, this may not be the look that you want to curate if you are able to entertain and host at home. In fact, you may choose to use all of your finest home entertaining things.

Quality Time Together

Aside from choosing how you will decorate your space, you will want to choose how you will spend your quality time together. For example, you may to think about how you will spend your time outside of eating.

Will you be playing games, having deep conversations, watching a movie, etc? It is important to think of this ahead of time so that your event moves the way that you intended it to.

Capture the Moments

Now that you have chosen decorations and how you will spend your time, it is important to capture the moments. How will you do this?

Will you allow everyone to take random photos from their phones, or will you curate a more formal way of taking photos such as having a photographer or even using disposable cameras?

Whatever way you choose to do so, be sure to let others know your plans and have a great time doing it.

Great Food and Drinks

With all of those plans out of the way, you can finally think about and plan a nice menu. Your menu can be as simple or as elaborate as you choose, it’s up to you.

Just be sure that whatever you choose, love is poured into it so that the meal is an enjoyable one. The last thing that you want is a terrible-tasting meal on a memorable and special occasion.

Cherish the Memories

Finally, don’t forget to cherish the memories for years to come.

Final Thoughts

Friendsgiving is not much different than Thanksgiving. It’s simply a different term used to help you celebrate with your nearest and dearest friends instead of your family. And, while this post outlines some of my personal tips, you are free to create your Friendsgiving any way that you see fit. Wouldn’t you agree?
