Bump Update: Weeks 27 & 28

Bump Update

I guess “pregnancy brain” is a real thing. For some reason, I thought I posted a Week 27 Bump Update. If I did, I have no idea where it is. If I haven’t well, here it is, two weeks jammed into one post.

Week 27: Wildly Productive

Looking back on my planner, Week 27 brought its fair share of ruckus. On Monday of that week, I felt awful and left work early. I just couldn’t take the uneasy feeling. I know it had more to do with the stress of an upcoming court date than anything else. I talked openly about that in a previous post, 20 Ways That I’ve Change Over the Past Five Years.

Aside from that, it was pretty productive in terms of the pregnancy. I was able to get my breast pump ordered for free online through my insurance and I also attended another Centering Pregnancy Class. I have an entire post written about the class, just waiting to go live, but in the meantime, you can read a bit about it in my 24-Week Bump Update

I also put our names on the waiting list for the daycare that we will be using when the time comes. The final thing that I completed was the baby’s emergency bug-out bag compiled using free items from various gift registry gifts. So, overall, Week 27 was seriously productive on the pregnancy front.

Week 28: Queasiness and Breastfeeding Courses

Week 28 was filled with queasiness and I just didn’t feel like myself. In fact, I called off on Thursday because I just didn’t feel well. Come to find out, my numbers were a little screwy the following day at my office visit. Knowing that I made all efforts to honor my body, hydrate,  and rest that day.

During the week, I started an online breastfeeding course through Tinyhood called Breastfeeding 101. Another blogger recommended the course and I was able to register when the course was free. I’m not sure if it is still free or not, but it is worth checking out. I haven’t completed all of it just yet, but plan to over the coming week.

Following that, a free course also came with the breast pump that I ordered, so I’ll take that one in a few weeks, as well. I’m sure that one has more to do with working the pump than anything else. And, then I have an in-person class that was recommended through Centering Pregnancy that I will take the first week in August.

Do I need three breastfeeding courses? Probably not, but I’m sure I’ll learn a little something different in each course that can only help me. Wouldn’t you agree?

Aside from breastfeeding classes….

On Saturday, we headed out to celebrate Father’s Day early with an evening at Jupiters. They serve delicious pizza and have a pretty large arcade. So, if you have children and are looking for a family outing, this is definitely a place to consider.

Sunday, I made a run to the grocery store, but mostly relaxed at home on the couch. We grilled, decorated the table, and watched some television. The most wonderfully, boring Sunday ever. Okay, not really. But, you get it.

Sadly, we missed our weekend getaway which included maternity photos, a beach picnic, and a visit to Buy Buy Baby since I wasn’t feeling well. But, that’s okay. We’ll just table it for another time.

If nothing else, I’ve learned that when my body says, rest, that’s what I need to do.

Final Thoughts

Well, there you have it. Weeks 27 and 28 and crammed together but very productive. Aside from that, I’ve been feeling queasy some days and having some discomfort. Turning over in bed and getting out of bed are some of the hardest daily challenges.

Not to mention that this little girl moves and thumps around all the time. While it causes some pain and discomfort, I am extremely grateful to be able to move through this pregnancy, getting close and closer to the end.
