Get Out and Play for Family Fun Month

I promise you. There is a national day, week or month for everything, well almost. Not only is August Back to School Month, but it’s also Family Fun Month.

So, in honor of Family Fun Month, we are giving you a peek into how we decided to spend an afternoon at the playground just playing around and capturing a few photos.

My boys are getting older, therefore hanging out at the playground is never their first choice. However, it’s a great way to get in some exercise in a fun environment and it costs nothing at all.

While doing a little research on the content that’s saturated the web on Family Fun Month, I found so many activities that had some costs associated with it. Some common activities listed included ordering pizza, going camping and taking a vacation

I agree that these are all awesome things to do, in which we have done and will continue to do, but I think it’s important to remind ourselves and our children that not every activity has to cost money.

Quality Fun Time Together

The idea (and benefit) behind Family Fun Month is to spend quality time together having fun. Who says that should have to cost anything?

Speaking of benefits. Another awesome benefit of hanging out at the playground and capturing photos is that I can use these photos in place of traditional back to school photos.

Again, who wants to pay an arm and a leg for traditional back to school photos where your kid is looking crazy and afraid to smile and be themselves because of all the people around?

So, why not mix things up a little this year?

Still allow your child to take their photos at school for the yearbook at all, but instead…skip buying them and take your own like I did at the playground.

A few tips…

Choose a location that is fun and exciting for your child(ren) and allow them to dress the way they want to.  Rockets of Awesome has fun and trendy Back to School clothes for school age children. Consider an outfit from there paired with some fun accessories and you are on your way to some awesome Back to School photos.

Take candid photos, actions photos, posed photos or whatever feels right.

From there you can print your photos, scrapbook them, make photo collage frames for at home, and give to friends and family. With your own photos you are not limited with a copyright and you have a variety of photos to choose from.

How fun!
