As the holiday season winds down and the year comes to a close, I find myself in a moment of gratitude and reflection. This year has been nothing short of transformative, filled with opportunities to grow, lead, and connect in ways that have enriched my personal and professional journey.
Here’s a look back at some of my favorite moments from 2024—moments that remind me why I’m so passionate about what I do professionally.
Presenting at the AAWCC National Conference
One of the highlights of my year was presenting at the American Association for Women in Community Colleges National Conference. My session on “Leveraging AI in Career Coaching, Personalized Learning, and Life Design” sparked engaging conversations and underscored the importance of innovation in higher education.
Not only this, but presenting at a national conference was on my career bucket list and I can officially check this off. Whoohoo!
Leading the IC3SP Hybrid Meeting
As president of IC3SP, I had the privilege of leading a hybrid meeting during the ICCCA annual conference. Bringing together voices from across the state to focus on student success was both a challenge and a joy—and I’m proud of what we accomplished.
Moderating at the ICCCA Conference
This year also marked my first time moderating a session at the ICCCA conference. It was a meaningful experience to facilitate conversations that left everyone inspired and motivated.
Being Nominated as President of IC3SP
Receiving this nomination was a humbling moment. It’s a role that I’ve embraced with enthusiasm, and I’m excited to continue making an impact in 2025.
Completing the NACE Management Leadership Institute
This program which primarily took place in Chicago was an intensive, rewarding journey that sharpened my leadership skills and deepened my understanding of effective management in the higher education landscape. I’ve also met some of the most amazing people who have blossomed into friends.
Successfully Completing the Leading Assessment in Student Affairs Course
Learning to lead with data-driven decision-making has been a game-changer. This course gave me the tools to ensure that assessment becomes an integral part of how we support students.
Each of these experiences has been a reminder of why I’m committed to education, leadership, and lifelong learning. From presenting to learning, from leading to connecting—I’ve grown so much this year.
Final Thoughts
As I prepare to welcome 2025, I’m filled with excitement for what’s ahead. Whether it’s continuing to grow in my career, taking on new challenges, or simply enjoying life with my family, I’m ready to embrace it all.
I’m so grateful to everyone who has been part of my 2024 journey—your support, encouragement, and collaboration mean the world to me.
