My First Appointment with David’s Bridal (Plus Tips!)

My First Appointment with David’s Bridal (Plus Tips!)

Life is changing rapidly, and I am not only flowing with the changes but also being intentional and proactive. With this in mind, I wanted to be proactive and begin doing some planning which included getting fitted for my wedding gown, noting my measurements, and choosing styles and colors. All of which was accomplished in my first appointment at David’s Bridal.

Over the weekend, my mother and I headed to David’s Bridal to get the ball rolling. We had such a beautiful time together Saturday afternoon. But, before I share the details and what you can expect at your first appointment at David’s Bridal, I want to share a little bit about manifestation and intentionality.

The appointment was scheduled two weeks in advance. After my mother agreed to go, I began writing in my Book of Positive Aspects that we would have a beautiful time together at David’s Bridal.

I set my intentions with a pure and grateful heart, wrote them in my journal, and emitted good feelings as if it had already happened. I claimed that we would have a lovely time together and I would accomplish what I set out to do. And, that was the experience that we had; a lovely one.

I picked my mother up earlier that morning. Prior to arriving at the bridal shop, we headed into Target to make use of the half an hour that we had to spare. We shopped for Halloween decorations for my office and cozy socks for her. Once we were all done, we headed over to David’s Bridal.

Here’s What You Can Expect

Once we entered, we checked in at the front desk. We were then greeted by the stylist that I would be working with and I was given a bridal gift bag that included information from various vendors.

After receiving the gift bag, the stylist showed us to the fitting area and kindly gave us each a small bottle of complimentary water to enjoy during the session.

My mom and I sat down and listened to the brief instructions which included me getting my measurements and discussing a few style details.

Once we chatted a bit, we were taken to the showroom, where we could pick out dresses within my price range that I wanted to try on based on the looks from my Wedding Gown Pinterest board

I want to be transparent here. My price range for this wedding gown does not fall within the $250 Wedding Series that I’ve been working on, however, the Commitment Ceremony dress from Amazon does. Feel free to check out all of those ideas and dresses.

After combing through the racks, we settled on three. Those three were taken to my fitting room for me to begin trying them on.

Since we are in a pandemic state, stylists are not allowed to go into a dressing room to help you with your dress. However, they are allowed to stand outside of the fitting room door to assist as needed.

With this in mind, it is very possible that people from other parties may catch a glimpse of you. For this reason, I suggest wearing nude shapewear, as I did. Not only does it give you a sleeker figure while trying on dresses, if people do catch a glimpse, you won’t feel embarrassed and will be covered up.

Although this should be a no-brainer, I’m going to mention this anyway. Be sure that you are shaven, clean, and smelling fresh. I’m certain the stylist will appreciate it when they are taking your measurements and assisting you at the dressing room.

Aside from this, I tried each of the three on with the assistance of the stylist and my mom took photos for me in each dress from the front and the back. Our goal was to capture the photos so that we could look at them later, chat about them, and let them help guide me in my decision-making.

I keep going back to them and looking at them. I feel so grateful for the time spent with my mom and being able to do this together. In fact, while I was trying on dresses, my mom was doing some eye shopping and eyed a beautiful Memorial Message Picture Holder.

The photo holder reads, “We know you would be here today if heaven wasn’t so far away”. She kept saying I want that and by the time we left, she had purchased it. On our way out the door, she handed it to me and said, I want you to have this so that you can put pictures of you and your dad in it.

Talk about being teary-eyed. My dad and I were super close and we watched him take his last breathe a few years ago. It was sad.

Anywho, as I tried on my third wedding gown, the stylist recommended a dress that she wanted me to try on based on the details I was adoring. That dress was cute, but not exactly my ideal wedding gown.

However, after trying on all four dresses, I had determined what style I would look best in which is a sweetheart neckline, an empire waist, and strapless. The dress is likely to be a ball gown or A-line dress.

With that information in mind, I decided to make a follow-up appointment to try on a few other dresses and see what I come up with from there. While the dresses I tried on were all beautiful, I’m positive that neither of the four that I tried on will be “the” dress.

Final Thoughts

Overall, my mom and I had a beautiful time together and I was able to accomplish my goal of determining my measurements, dress size, and dress style. I learned that having a Pinterest board ready with ideas is very helpful to the stylist and wearing a full piece of shapewear is helpful.
