Every year, most families come together to discuss where their big holiday vacation will be. For some, it’s a vacation during the summer, while others prefer to go away in the winter. Regardless, there’s always one key debate; shall we travel to a different country or should we stay in the United States?
Some people may think that this is a silly debate – as you should obviously travel the world. But the truth is, there are both pros and cons of not going abroad on your travels.
Take notes, as you continue reading below to find out a few pros, as well as cons.
Pros
Save A Lot Of Money
You could potentially save a lot of money if you decide not to go overseas for your family holiday vaction.
For example, overseas flights for a family can be expensive; not to mention the baggage fees, renting a car, paying for hotels, attractions, meals, etc. In fact, this is probably one of the main reasons a lot of families choose to stay in the US and just visit different cities or states.
Some say that going to places such as Disneyland and Disney World with your family will still be pretty expensive. This could be true, however, in my opinion, I believe that staying in the US means you can pretty much drive wherever you want to go – within reason and still have an affordable and fun vacation.
Your family can go on road trips which cancel out all of the expensive flights, baggage fees, etc. However, you even opt to fly within the United States because flights are usually a lot cheaper than international ones.
There’s Still So Much To See
Have you noticed that many people from around the world choose to come here to travel around our whole country? So, doesn’t that prove that there’s a lot to see here? We have iconic cities like New York, San Francisco, Miami, Las Vegas, Chicago, Los Angeles – the list goes on and on!
Question!
Have ever considered the idea that you could go on vacations in the same state for many years and still never explore the same place twice?
You Can Experience Every Type Of Holiday Here
Not only do you have so much to see here in the States, but you also have almost every type of holiday vacation all in one country. For example, we have some of the best beaches in the world in states such as Florida and California.
But, if beaches aren’t your thing, what about amusement parks, or ski destinations?
Regardless of what your family wants out of a holiday vacation, the US can more than supply it for you.
Cons
There Are So Many Unique Cities Out There
How can you stay put when there are so many amazing cities in the world that are nothing like the ones we have in the US? A few that spring to mind include Dubai, Seoul, Venice, and Rome.
For example, there are so many exciting things to do in Dubai that you simply can’t experience in America. Experiences include desert tours, climbing the tallest building in the world, and enjoying first-class subway cabins – just to name a few.
If that’s not fascinating enough, Seoul is a city that mixes traditional South Korean culture with mind-boggling futuristic technology. It’s the most advanced city in the world; think Silicon Valley but ten times more impressive!
While these are just a few examples, there are so many others out there to keep you entertained and amazed.
You Only Experience One Culture
Another reason you should try and enjoy a holiday vacation abroad is to expand your cultural competence and experience more than one culture in your life.
Having this opportunity can give you a sense of perspective which may lead you to incorporate what you have learned into your own home life once you return.
You Can’t Really Escape Reality At Home
Finally, one of the main reasons people tend to go on vacations is to escape their current reality and just recharge their batteries.
When you don’t go abroad and stay within the states, it could be much harder to unplug for some. For example, someone may be in a different city, but it could possibly still feel like home and they wouldn’t get the rush of excitement of being a tourist.
What makes you feel like a tourist in a brand new place? Why not leave a comment?
Either way, traveling abroad immediately helps you escape your current reality and unplug.
