Last month sometime I wrote, Your First Virtual 5K Race & What to Expect. In that post, I explained what you can expect when doing a virtual race and the two that I had signed up for. In that post, I showed the completion photos of the World Music Day Virtual Race and today I want to share the completion of the Power of the Parks 5K Walk; because, let me tell you. There was no racing to it. I walked it out, just as I did the last one.
But, that’s okay. The goal is to just get it done. But, this walk was a bit different. Let me tell you why. For starters, I didn’t care about time. I could care less. My goal was to simply get it done; because to be honest with you…
Not Feeling Good
July was full of worry and I didn’t feel the best physically – which resulted in me being pretty sedentary for the last few weeks of July. It was all really heartbreaking personally because I had been so consistent in getting my daily 5K walks in.
Not only did I not feel good and not do any exercise, but my eating habits were not great. Heck, they weren’t even good. I ate a lot of fast food because I didn’t feel good enough to cook. There were way too many pizza slices, gum drops, and colas – to say the least. I felt so unhealthy which is really unfortunate, especially during the summer.
Good Health, Especially in the Summer
I hope you had a chance to read, 4 Top Tips to Look and Feel Fab this Summer. Those were just four tips shared. Lord knows I can tell you so many more, like drink plenty of water, moisturize your skin, eat healthy foods, and exercise. Oh, and you absolutely must mask your face. I’ve been doing a lot of that this summer and it has been so helpful.
I have to be honest here and let you know that I underestimated the hydrating mask that came in my July Ipsy Glam Bag. A few days after I created the post, I masked my face with it and it was soooo hydrating! I couldn’t believe that tiny tube packed so much punch. My hope is to update that post with a few more thoughts. We’ll see.
At any rate, to finally be feeling better and able to get up and get back moving was wonderful. So, I am sure you can see why the time didn’t matter at all.
Virtual Race Swag & Registration Fee
Although the time didn’t matter to me, I was still excited to wear the shirt and take a few photos with my racing bib. I know in my previous post, I spoke about registration fees and swag, so I wanted to touch on this briefly.
For this particular virtual race, the first 200 people who registered for the Power of the Parks 5K Race had no registration fee. However, those who registered afterwards were required to pay $12 which included this t-shirt and racing bib.
I got in late and had to pay $12. But, to me, it was worth it. What was really nice, was that there were coupons at the bottom of the bib for relevant purchases such as racing shoes. This race was actually a lot less expensive than other races that I’ve seen or registered for.
Unstoppable Food & Fitness Journal
Anywho, before I end this post, I want to share this Unstoppable Food & Fitness Journal. This journal was given to me by my aunt when she was living in Germany towards the end of last year. I held on to it because I wasn’t ready to use it just yet. Now, I am.
With me getting myself back on track, I needed some personal accountability. And with me already journaling daily – this journal fits right in to help keep me accountable.
It is intended to help you keep track of what you eat, prepare diet plans, monitor your fast, develop new habits and achieve your fitness goals.
It also has daily inspiration quotes at the top of each page that I can use to motivate me throughout each day. I believe that it is intended for 90 days.
Here’s a breakdown of what you get in the paperback book.

Final Thoughts
It feels good to be feeling better physically. I plan to continue walking, but also mixing up my exercise routine as much as possible. I also plan to continue posting my walking videos and stats from my Runkeeper app to my Instagram stories and Exercise Highlights because it’s also great for personal accountability, aside from the Unstoppable Food & Fitness Journal.
I’ll be making an update towards the end of August to keep you posted. In the meantime, you can alway drop a comment with questions.
