Last week, I posted an updated What I’m Doing Now 11.2.20. In that post, I shared a recap of our Halloween Kitchen Basket. I also shared a peek into this month’s Autumn Kitchen Basket, or what is known as a Kitchen Occasions Bin on Instagram.
#occasionsbin
So, in today’s post, I’m sharing what I’ve put in our Autumn Kitchen Occasions Bin, as well as how we’ve been using the bin.
For starters, I love the joy and festiveness that the kitchen bins bring. Spending just a few minutes and a few dollars at the dollar store immediately offers decor for the holiday or season without me stressing about decorating throughout the entire house.
And, right now I am definitely for anything that is quick and non-stressful.
Can you relate?
Creating these occasions bins are quite easy.
Make a List & Budget
First, make a list of what you would like to add to your basket. For example, would you like to add straws, paper plates, bowls and/or cups and candy? Make a quick list, as well as a budget.
For example, for our Halloween basket, I knew I only wanted to spend $10. I knew I wanted straws, plates, cups, and napkins. After I got those things, I spent what was left on extras such as a few packs of candy and treat cups.
From there, I looked around the house for anything else Halloween related that would work. I ended up finding a Current Mood plastic wine glass from last Halloween. This ended up being perfect for holding some lollipops.
Shop Your House
With this idea in mind, shop your house after you make your list. I always tell people, shop what you have first, and then you can buy anything else that you need.
While you are shopping your house, grab a bin or basket that you have around your home and fill it with your items. If you have other festive items in your kitchen, add them, too.
Keep Your Basket All Month Long
Since I made our Halloween basket late in the month, I didn’t have to replenish much at all. However, after the first week of having our Autumn basket up, I’ve had to replenish it. I don’t mind though because, again, I grabbed everything from the Dollar Tree and used what I had here at home.
If leaving yours up for the month is too long, consider setting it up prior to the holiday or special occasion. That way, when it’s gone, it’s gone and you can put everything away.
What’s in Our Basket?
Before I end this post, I must share with you our area and the basket, itself. The main staples in this month’s basket include paper plates, napkins and plasticware. I also put some travel mugs in one of the bins. All of which came from Dollar Tree.
I also decorated behind the bin using a tiered $5 tray from Target (#TargetFinds) and some other seasonal decor that I had in our fall tote.
And, that’s it!
Final Thoughts
I truly love this idea and will be incorporating it into our kitchen for most months, if not all. I honestly believe that these can be put together in under 10 minutes for less than $10.
If you decide to make one, I’d love to see it. Tag me on Instagram or shoot me an email at (brennon at justbrennonblog dot com).
