This year on the blog, I’ve been a bit more open with my personal practices in meditation, gratitude, and manifestation. Prior to this, I shared mostly about how I use and used my Book of Positive Aspects to manifest more of my desired life.
But today, I want to share with you the oracle and tarot decks that I’ve been using this year for added guidance and clarity on life situations.
Prior to working with various decks this year, I started out with the classic Rider-Waite tarot deck when I was 16. This particular deck is the world’s most popular tarot deck and has been a favorite of beginners, as well as tarot enthusiasts.
Back then, I didn’t know much about reading tarot nor did I have a firm understanding of what it was. I simply thought the cards told your future.
After several months of trying to use and understand the cards, I folded and decided that was not my path. Feeling completely defeated, I gave away my tarot deck and the large hard copy guide book that I purchased on my own.
Now, here it is present-day; I wish I would have kept my deck and book.
Nevertheless, I have been guided towards other decks that I have come to love and use daily. Three of my favorite decks include the Mythical Goddess Tarot deck and two oracle decks including the Isis Oracle deck and Gabby Bernstein’s, The Universe Has Your Back deck.
Yes, there is a bit of a difference in working with tarot decks, as opposed to oracle decks. Personally, I feel like oracle cards give you more of a polite answer and more guidance on how to work through a situation. Tarot cards, on the other hand, don’t sugar coat things.
When working with these cards daily, I gain so much guidance, inspiration, and clarity from them. They are always spot on and give me a sense of being supported in whatever situation I am working through at the moment.
Working with these cards aren’t just about telling your future. Instead, they can provide a shift in perspective in working with various situations and working through your day, amongst other things; which is a lot of how I work with them.
You can read more about how I work with them in My Morning Meditation Routine.
Choose Decks That Resonate with You
What I’ve come to learn is that I have a deep appreciation for decks that I resonate with.
Any ol’ deck just won’t cut it.
For example, one day while at a Metaphysical Shop, I decided to purchase a deck on the whim. This was not a good decision. While the deck is simply gorgeous, it does nothing for me. I still keep it around and occasionally draw a card for inspiration, but otherwise, it is not a deck I care to work with.
On another occasion, I decided to buy a Halloween tarot deck to use during the month of October. I ordered it, flipped through it, and was immediately put off. I had no desire to work with that deck and returned it. End of story.
Final Thoughts
If you are interested in learning to work with tarot and/or oracle decks, go for it. Choosing a deck to work with or get started with can sometimes seem like a daunting task, but take your time and choose something that resonates with you. Choosing a deck that resonates with you will keep you wanting to learn and work with that deck.
